I usually cook only a couple times a week the last couple of days that I've been cooking I kind of went overboard in effort. Last night I decided to make perogies which is been one of my favorites. It's a very simple to take it out of a box and fry it in a pan but we did the whole nine yards started from scratch. I decided to use McCormick's seasoning for steak this is the first time I've used this and it turned out fantastic!
DOUGH
4 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp salt
2 cups yogurt or sour cream
2 large eggs
1 Tbsp water (as needed)
FILLING
1lb bacon finely chopped and fried till crispy one onion finely chopped and sauteed
4-5 baking potatoes boiled and mashed
1 Cup sour cream
2tbs McCormick steak seasoning
Shredded chedar cheese
First to take about a pound of bacon chop it into small bits and fry it until crispy. Then saute some onions one small onion will do. Take for 5 baking potatoes chop them up and boil you can do it with or without the Skins I like it with the skins. Then mash the potatoes add the onion add the bacon add 1 cup of sour cream and This is where you add the steak seasoning make sure you have a nice fine texture to it then put about 1 tablespoon per progie dough cut out.
The size of the cut out is about 4in in diameter a peanutbutter lid.
Once you fold it overand seal it up you boil them three or four minutes. Sometimes they will float a bit. Then I like to take and fry them in the bacon grease that was left over.
