I'm not the type of person who complains often.
When I come across something I don't like, I usually pass it by, or if I have to pay for it, I pay and never come back.
I'm like that in restaurants too.
It happened to me that I would accept an order prepared by mistake, eat something that was a little too spicy or too salty, and I never returned the meal that was served to me.
I've rarely left negative reviews because I don't want my subjective feeling to turn someone else away from where I've been.
If I make a comment, I always write: "At the moment when I was there, the situation was...".
I prefer to give a positive review and praise when a place deserves my recommendation.
Fuck it, maybe that recommendation is also wrong, because tastes differ, so what is super tasty to me, maybe not to someone else 馃ぃ
I'm not complaining and I'm not nitpicking, but now I have to share my displeasure with you here in the #rantcomplain community and ask what the tipping situation is like in the places where you live...
Namely, I was in Hungary for the weekend and during the day I drank coffee and ate a cake in a great REOK patisserie. When I asked the waiter if there is an option to add a tip when paying at the POS terminal, he told me that the tip is included in the price.
But it wasn't like that.
The tip was not included in the price, but shown as a separate item on the bill, exactly 10% of the bill amount. OK.
I would definitely leave that much of a tip. I consider 10% of the price of coffee and cake very good, because in order to serve me, the waiter approached my table only twice and in doing so traveled a total distance of 20 meters.
I thought that wasn't such a bad thing, you know exactly how much tip you can expect, but again, the question would be, why aren't those tips actually included in the price, and not shown as a separate item?
After a whole day of walking around the city, we headed to a restaurant for dinner. We looked at the menu earlier and roughly knew what we were going to order and how much money we needed.
We also calculated an additional amount of tip, of 10%, when we exchanged Euros for Hungarian Forints at the exchange office.
Fortunately, we exchanged a few more Euros, because after dinner we planned to go to a pub.
The restaurant in the center of Szeged, Concept Bistro, has an excellent offer of traditional Hungarian dishes, food prices are some % higher than restaurants outside the center and they are expected, the range of drinks is good, the waiters speak excellent English.
We looked at the menus that the waiter gave us, confirmed that the dishes in the online edition and the hardcopy are the same, with the same prices, and dictated our order.
The food arrived in 20 minutes, just about as long as it takes to prepare, while we drank our drinks.
Tasty, nicely seasoned, sufficient quantity.
When we asked for the bill, to pay in cash, we were satisfied and a 10% tip would have been the right measure.
However, when the waiter brought the bill, it seemed too high to us.
None of us know the Hungarian language, so we had to hire a translator on our mobile phones.
The amount of 5,000 forints, which was stated separately, perfectly matched the amount at the end.
Without anyone asking us anything, without notifying us when ordering, the tip was written at 20% when the bill was issued.
Unpleasantly surprised, but without wanting to ask about that amount or complain to the waiter, call the manager, etc., we paid the bill, which was increased by an amount higher than the most expensive meal we ate, and left the restaurant.
Fortunately, we had enough forints.
Until now, we have not had the opportunity to encounter this type of tip collection (in Cyprus and in France and Italy, which we visited this year, we tipped the waiters in the old way, leaving money with the bill), so this was a very unpleasant experience for us.
Okay. We won't break even for 15e, but when I calculate that only during the hour and a half that we were in the restaurant, 10-12 tables were occupied, I arrive at a serious figure that is collected during the whole day for tips. Figures shared by two waiters, one bartender, along with the kitchen... And the figure for which the owner of the restaurant was relieved of payment.
So, restaurant owner, considering that we, the guests, pay most of the salary of your restaurant staff, I want next time, instead of: "Good day, welcome", your waiters greet me with: "Good day Boss, how are you, please sit down".

In order not to hate the Concept bistro restaurant, I left a review on Google with 5猸愶笍 because they deserved it, the food was excellent.
But I stated that the tip amount is pre-defined and quite high.
