So many little STEEM milestones have passed and I've really just forgotten to write about the... however, one that I've had my eye on for quite some time is the passing of the REP 70 milestone. Of course, we all know that REP doesn't really equate to too much on the STEEM blockchain, after a certain point, it is probably best a measure of how long you've stuck around for and not much more than that...
... but still, it is nice to have that little number under the belt... it's a hard one to get, as it appears that the REP goes exponentially, so the first 60 or so levels are pretty easy... but that climb up to 70 was a bit of a long slog!
So, I'm not one of the early adopters... but I've been around for a little bit now... and done my best to keep slogging away... learning how to write in the process of growing my account. Seen the account value pretty much hold steady in USD despite an increasing stake in STEEM. Oh well, that is the way things are going at the moment... who knows, that might turn around or not!
It's interesting that I've hit REP 70 at a seemingly critical point in the life of STEEM... with HF21 putting new mechanics into play... I'm likely to just ignore them and just keep on plugging away at what I have been doing. STEEM for me is a way to collect my thoughts and try to find a bit of time to write about something that I find interesting. It is neither an investment vehicle or a get rich plan... its an easy way to blog and blather!
However, that said... I'm more than keenly aware that many incentives do need to change... there are more writers than readers on this platform... and that isn't really sustainable at all... so something needs to change to rectify this, or we will find ourselves in a bit of a pickle. What the changes are, I have no idea... but I'm a bit hopeful that HF21 might have some of the necessary ingredients... and if not, this has been a nice experiment and experience for me!
If STEEM does end up folding as a viable crypto-currency... I don't think I'm going to appear on another blogging platform, I'll just find something else to do somewhere else! Who knows what will be... but while the chain is up and taking my posts... I'll just keep writing... and reading and just doing what I do...
... if I'm lucky, I'll reach Dolphin... sometime in the next year!
