To not beat around the bush, to me, true rest is me being able to actually/really slow down without feeling like I need to be doing something or engaging myself in something. Yeah, most of the time I find myself lying down to rest, but in no time I'm up again. I would feel I shouldn't be resting; what else can I do? What can I find myself doing? It has even reached an extent that I find it hard to actually rest, but then I have to call myself back home and remind myself that, nah, rest is actually necessary.

And most times, it's not anything big or grand; it can be just me lying down on my bed and my phone right there beside me, playing some soft, low-volume music and taking my time to actually rest. I did this exact thing just yesterday; I felt the need to write a post and also to do some deliveries and all of that. I actually took my bath and prepared to go out, but eventually I thought it best to shift it. I've been going up and down for a long time and doing a lot of things without actually giving myself rest. So after taking my bath, I switched on the fan, selected a playlist on my phone, and lay down.

Other times it could be me just taking a walk or finding a calm place to sit, admire nature, and just allow time to go without worrying. It is kro as if I don't know rest is good, of course I know, but if I were to look around me and the situation of things, rest would feel like a luxury I cannot afford. So, the problem isn't knowing how to rest; the problem is allowing myself to rest without feeling guilty.

Just last week, after I was done with a couple of things, I decided to sit. I checked and found out there's actually nothing more to do, so I just sat down; the remaining things I need to do have been and can be postponed till the next day, so there's time. Less than ten minutes after I sat down, that thought came: instead of just sitting and not doing anything, why don't I start writing, at least something I will post tomorrow? Immediately I grabbed my phone. That's just it; when there seems to be a bit of some time to rest, something will just come, like I would see something I can use that free time to do, so when I decide to rest, a part of me is telling me and showing me something else I can do.

But I'm already learning to ignore it and not always listen to it. I'm not a machine; I'm human, and as a human I need rest. It doesn't mean I'm lazy; it's just me being human. And I've even noticed that when I take my time to actually rest, I get things very well done after. So, I'm no longer waiting for my body to force me to rest; I'm giving it the rest it needs already without feeling guilty about it.
