Over the past year, the rate of picking up new silver ounces has dropped off quite a bit... mainly because the price has spiked so high that I'm more considering selling off a few unwanted pieces of silver instead of collecting them. Even the auctions are a bit of a dead loss, with the pieces selling at way over spot... and the spot is already pretty high!

Anyway, a couple of months ago, I saw that the silver price had dropped a bit from the gigantic highs of earlier... and I dropped by the bullion shop to see if they had any buyback silver for sale... but they had NOTHING in stock! Not sure if they really didn't, of if they were just holding out for a new spike... or if they were just frantically melting everything down as they came in to sell bars instead?

So, the first time this year that I had considered buying silver pieces... nothing there. So, it would have to wait until the next time that I visited the big cities... and that was this past month. And I dropped by the bullion shop again...

... and this time, they DID have a few things in stock... but not much. Perhaps I will have better luck in Melbourne later next month... but I figured I had some food money to spend from the project that I was working on, and so I had gone in with the thought that I would definitely buy two ounces. Sigh... only a year or so ago, the same amount of cash would have picked up 4 ounces...

The only pieces that they had in stock were from the Australian Lunar series... and these are good enough for me. Lovely designs as always... and I picked out the two significant animals as far as my family is concerned! Dragon for luck and good fortune... and Horse... for me!

Ha... and I hadn't noticed until I got back home... one of the old lady, and one of the new guy!

The new guy does have a cleaner design which works well... but it still look wrong to me. I will always like the old lady on the coins!

So, it appears that stacking has started up slowly again... I might still consider getting rid of a few coins that I'm not so fond of to see if I can swap them to designs that I prefer.... stupid Aquaman...
