Every weekend, I always shop at the market to get groceries to store for 1 week. Actually it's not just to be stored away, I bought some food ingredients to prepare as our food reserves for 1 week, this can make it easier for me as well as to save on the cost of our basic needs, its about, food.
Shopping in large quantities will save you money, because usually you will be given a special discount, especially if you shop at traditional markets. The interesting thing is, apart from being cheap in traditional markets, all food needs are provided, we will find what is needed in cooking. Just like last Sunday, I bought a lot of pandan suji leaves, I really wanted to make something out of pandan suji leaves.
You know that pandan suji has a very attractive aroma, pandan suji can be used as a food seasoning, like in aceh, you will see chicken fried with pandan leaves and curry leaves, even as a savory food, pandan can be used as an aromatic dish. So last Sunday I crushed pandan suji leaves to make pandan suji juice. I store the juice in the refrigerator so that it lasts and can be used, because last Sunday I was very busy in the kitchen cleaning the refrigerator and packing all the food that will be stored so that it lasts and looks neat.
Well, this morning, I made a traditional snack, this is a snack that can only be found in North Sumatra, a typical halal Batak food, namely pandan ombus. This food is made from rice flour, suji pandan leaf juice and also grated coconut. The taste is sweet and savory, because there is a mixture of grated coconut which is the texture of this food, then wrapped in banana leaves which will add to the taste of this snack.
Pandan ombus is a traditional snack that comes from a city in South Tapanuli, Siborong-borong, a city in the mountains of North Sumatra. Siborong-borong has a cold climate, because it is located in an area with an altitude of around 1200 meters above sea level. This is the basis for this ombus pandan snack, because ombus pandanus is a delicious snack to eat when it is still warm because it is served by steaming.
This time, I want to share the pandan ombus snack recipe, this can be used as a snack option for those of you who are vegan. This recipe is very simple, suitable for drinking coffee, and enjoyed with family and friends. So, curious about the recipe? Check this out!
