Hey Foodies,
My first ever recipe post is here for your review.
Today, I am here with a crispy, crunchy popcorn chicken just like KFC offers. Not only our kids but we also find our souls flying wherever the aroma of fried chicken comes from.
Now, you must be wondering if the recipe I am sharing is healthy or not? Let me explain, I personally feel it's quite healthier to enjoy and cook the deep fried foods at home rather than to buy them from any fast food outlets, where we are not even sure about the food quality or if the food meets our eating standard or not!
If we cook the same food at home, we can literally find ourself much healthier without even sacrificing any taste, we like! Because at home we can use the fresh and best kind of meat and oil to make these when prepared at home. We really don’t know the kind of oil or meat used when we eat out.
Let's just jump into the recipe and find a magical way to cook the crispy popcorn chicken at home!!
Note: The chicken we would be using for this recipe will be boneless and skinless
Ingredients and Preparation
So, what do we require?
Firstly, you will be needing 1.5 pounds of boneless chicken sliced into 1-inch pieces. Along with 1 tbsp of salt-free Cajun seasoning along with 1 teaspoon of pure salt (or it can be added as per taste). One cup of all purpose flour and 3/4 cup beer.
All you need to do it to toss chicken with the 1 teaspoon of Cajun seasoning and salt (as per taste). On the other hand, mixture of flour, beer and remaining Cajun seasoning salt is to be prepared as per the quantities mentioned above. Once the mixture has been prepared toss the chicken into the batter and coat completely.
Secondly, we require approximately 8 pepperoncini peppers along with 1 quart vegetable oil.
Pre-heat the oil in oven at 375 degrees. Here, we need to fry the chicken pieces and peppers in 3 batches. Just drop one piece at a time and try to be safe from oil spilt. Frankly speaking, I have burnt my hands many times like this! Anyways, we need to fry for 5 minutes max., gently stirring halfway through cooking time.
Once done, dish-out the chicken pops and peppers, with a slotted spoon and place on a paper-towel baking sheet/tissue to drain the extra oil.
Serve them immediately, if desired, with a Cocktail sauce or chilli ketchup to add more spice. You may also include lemon wedges for squeezing (optional). Also, a bucket of baked fries will add up to the deal!
... And there you go with to very own crispy popcorn chicken. Enjoy!
