In any battle I really like the Reach ruleset because it gives me the opportunity to properly select my melee attackers. Today's 17 mana battle which is considered a low mana battle was very interesting and I got to see an easy win.
There was very little room for effective monster selection but in the end I managed to achieve an easy victory.
First, let's understand which rulesets appeared and why it is very important to understand them before strategically selecting your monsters. It becomes very confusing when the battle is low mana and there are the maximum number of rulesets meaning all three rulesets are active but you have limitations in monster selection.
You have to think carefully so that you don't make any mistakes while selecting your monsters and follow a proper strategy and plan. This way you can build your team according to the rulesets and prepare well for the battle.
The first ruleset is
NO PAIN, NO GAIN
Which gives every monster the Painforge ability. What Painforge does is that whenever a monster is affected by certain effects, its attack increases by +1. Whether it is Poison, Burning or any other effect, after taking that effect the monster gains +1 attack power.
Keeping this ruleset in mind the best strategy is to select monsters with high health so they can survive longer in battle. If possible you should also choose healer monsters so that your monsters continue recovering health throughout the battle.
FATE CERTAINTY
The second important ruleset is Fates Certainty. In this ruleset, the success rate of certain status abilities becomes 100%. For example if a monster has the Poison ability, then in a normal battle Poison may apply or it may miss.
But under Fates Certainty, every successful attack will apply Poison with a 100% chance. Because of this monsters with Poison become extremely dangerous. If you have a monster card with this ability you should definitely use it in this ruleset.
MANEUVERS
The third ruleset is Maneuvers where every monster gains the Reach ability. Reach allows your melee attacker to attack even from the second position. Normally, melee monsters can only attack from the first position.
However if a monster has Reach or when this ruleset is active, your melee attacker can also attack from the second position. This gives you the advantage of making much better use of your melee attackers and gives you more flexibility in your team selection.
The best strategy for this ruleset is to use your strongest melee monsters. You can even create a double tank setup which makes your team much stronger.
Keeping all three rulesets in mind I selected two monsters along with armor archon. My Archon provided +1 Armor and I chose one melee attacker and one ranged attacker.
I selected the +1 Armor because, with the No Pain, No Gain ruleset, it is important to use monsters with high health or high armor so they receive better protection. At the same time, I also selected high damage attackers so they could eliminate the enemy units as quickly as possible and finish the battle early.
On the other side my opponent also selected an two monsters. As soon as I saw the monsters on the battlefield I realized that I would win this battle easily.
The mistake my opponent made was selecting low health monsters while my attackers were much stronger.. Because of that the battle was decided in just two rounds and I managed to secure a fantastic victory..
What would your strategy be in this type of ruleset? And how would you select your monsters? Will be glad to see your answers in the comment section.
