Beer Tasting: Bevog Buzz and Lobik Cryowser

Hello beer lovers! 🍻 😎 🍻

What's going on? Yes, #beersaturday, 254th in a row and it's time for tasting new beers. A bit later than usual, because there was something going on all around, and the time for my beer dragged a bit toward the end of the day.

But otherwise, it's exactly right. The longer you want something, the more you end up enjoying it.
Today I have two beers, I think they are two top-quality brews of my favorite drink. Both are IPAs, but each is a little different.

Let's go, first the one with less alcohol.

🍻 😎 🍻

Bevog Buzz Double Dry Hopped IPA

Brewed by Bevog Brewery, Bad Radkersburg, Austria.
Can, 0.33 l, alcohol 5.7% ABV. It's a Hazy IPA or New England India Pale Ale style, very bitter with intense fruit flavors and aromas.

What do the Master Brewers say?

We brewed quite many versions of hazy IPAs, but this one is the sum of the greatest hits that we scored during experimenting with different hops, yeast strains, and grains. ο»ΏSo we took super juicy hops and layered them three times over a super smooth base of malted and un-malted grains. ο»ΏThe collision of smooth stone fruit and tropical fruit juicy richness in aroma and taste will assure you a big happy smile on your face. Super smooth mouthfeel, Buzz is a stunning brew. We love it to the (hop) cone.

Bewog is one of the most popular craft breweries in Slovenia. They have quite an interesting story, unfortunately, one of the more shameful ones. When they started, the municipality of Radgona, which is on the border with Austria, did not allow them to use water to brew beers. Slovenian bureaucrats are top-notch (read: there are no procedures in Europe for obtaining permits for the use of natural resources as complicated as in Slovenia...), so they moved to Bad Radkersburg, on the other side of the border, where they got it all right away. And within a few years, they became a success story, their beers are highly appreciated everywhere.

The beer is cloudy yellow and the head is average. Very pronounced aroma of fresh hops. The first sip flows very smoothly down the throat. The bitterness of the hops is immediately apparent in the mouth, very pronounced but not disturbing. Tropical fruit, lemon, and grapefruit flavors develop alongside, and there is also a malty sweetness, very nicely balanced with the other flavors.

In the aftertaste, everything slowly disappears except for the hop bitterness, which comes out and lingers for a while.

Great beer!
Very tasty and juicy, they obviously hit this "Double Dry" process well. Even here you can get it on draught and in cans in local shops. It will definitely be in my fridge for a while...
Until I find a better IPA, of course. :)

Lobik Cryowser Double NEIPA

Brewed by Lobik Brewery, RuΕ‘e, Slovenia.
Can, 0.33 l, alcohol 8.0% ABV, it's Imperial/Double New England India Pale Ale (NEIPA), also known as Double Hazy IPA, is a strong beer with intense fruit flavors and aromas, a soft body, and smooth mouthfeel.

What do the Master Brewers say?

At last we made a double NEIPA for us. Equinox meets Stryian Dragon but then a big dose of Cryo Mosaic and Cryo Citra came in on dry hop.

According to some people I know, Lobik beers are the best in Slovenia. Yes, I'd say they are excellent too, at least the ones I have tried. So I expect this one to be at the top as well.

The beer is cloudy yellow, has not much head, and smells very hoppy. It goes down the throat smoothly, and the palate immediately has a distinct hop bitterness that lasts throughout, with tropical aromas in the background, mainly passion fruit, and grapefruit, but I don't detect any malt sweetness.
The intense hop bitterness remains in the aftertaste, but everything else disappears quickly.

This beer is also excellent, not as juicy as the previous ones, the strong bitterness of the IPA is present all the time in the aftertaste, but everything else is less. It has a high alcohol content, but you don't feel it ... in fact, the alcohol comes later, sometime after I've drunk the beer ... It's available in our local shops so it'll end up in my fridge.

🍻 😎 🍻

Looks like I had a real IPA feast. 🍻😁
Why not, it's the start of the carnival, I noticed that because for a few days, there are strange statues hanging in the trees everywhere ... it's going to be some wild nights and days for sure...

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to as I write this?
Something from my last #newtunes post.
Charismatic femme fatale? Maybe.
