I am headed out of town for some family fun but was assigned a task by the ladies of the house. You see, I am vastly outnumbered being the only guy so I do what I am told in the name of happy women and wifepoints! My task was to do a little daddying with my little one AND fetch a metric ass-load of Blue Berries! They grow locally at farms so I was up for the task before my road trip.
Seeing as I am doing Double Duty, I may as well turn into Artistic Photographer and bring my global friends with me.
As you can see, it is a wonderful day. 27 Celsius and sunny and blue skies with blueberry bushes as far as the eye can see. A hat and some sunscreen and a couple buckets and we were off.
You can see the berries are in various states of ripeness as the picking season started only a week ago. It continues for another 2 weeks or so and that is it for the season. So today was a chance to get a good crop before they are gone.
The bushes at this farm (run by a friend of course!) are rather mature. So they stand at least 5 feet tall and are pretty much covered with berries. They put down flags to mark the rows that have been picked and where you should start.
Here, we have my little one in her element and perfectly at home in the camouflaged environment. At the end, I noticed I picked a little faster than her but she is pretty seasoned at this. It may also be because she happily snacks while picking.
They look like apples when you do the artistic extreme close up artistic shots.
In the end, we were only out for about an hour. Ended up with a couple big buckets full and a fully belly as a bonus. This haul cost us $31 CDN which I suppose is not cheap. Totally worth it when you consider the nutrition, support of another local business owned by friends, daddy time and female happiness factor.
