Back again for #BeerSaturday after being away yesterday for a little adventure! Our good friend @detlev is still settling back into the groove so we should start the drinkin and warm the pub up for his return.!
This week, I am back from the big city with a trunk full of beer and tales to tell.
The Pint of the week is usually a social beer enjoyed out on the town, one of the best ways to share a pint. Exactly how I enjoyed this one at the end of a long Saturday. In the background, we have a Seven Sons Amber Lagerby Black Donnelly's Brewing as is preferred by our brewmaster. I opted to take one for the team and actually didn't hate this Lake of Bays Pumpkin Ale I am not a fan of pumpkin in the slightest and usually would taste a new beer over one I already know I like. Those things aside, I STILL haven't found a pumpkin ale I didn't find surprisingly good. The streat continues!
You know what gets washed down nicely by the PotW? This classic cheeseburger with all the fixins!
Back to Great Lakes!
Whenever life takes me down the road to the big city, I insist upon a visit to perhaps my favourite brewery over the years: Great Lakes Brewery Primarily because of the long list of IPAs they release, and also because there are weekly limited run beers that you can only catch fresh in their tap room. Here is what they had fresh in the fridge to take home.
I also love to catch a pint in the tap room as there are even more beers that are only available on tap. Loving those hops shaped lights too.
Brew SLAM!
Once per year, we head into Toronto Brewing Supply as they are a host of the largest brewing competition in the province, Brew Slam
This year, we are entering our award winning Amber Ale as well as a nice bold and hoppy 7.1% New England IPA. Up to 500 entries are made by brewers all around so the competition is stiff. Still, neat to get in there and maybe we will be beer famous on another level! Should know the results by November 21st.
Supply Run!
Now you know what $650 worth of hops looks like! We have stepped up our procudement process with accounts with an industrial sized supplier for our brewing supplies. We go through so much grain and hops with our operation, it pays to buy in larger packages and it is unbelievable how much per ounce/gram price comes down when you do so.
Now you also know how happy brewmaster is when he received his order! Here he is proudly displaying his 11 pound (5kg) baby which should be enough hops for a year or so. All stocked up with fresh grains, we also are fully set up with Mosaic, Citra, Amarillo and Nelson Sauvin hops in large quantities for all of our IPA needs. Gonna be a delicious year.
#BEERSaturday!
Even beer thinks I am as funny as I am when I am drinkin!
Let us celebrate the return of our stalwart leader @detlev by sharing our beer stories for #beersaturday! All are welcome!
