Riding in a massive armored Land Raider, the Blood Claws howl and roar, each fighting to be heard over the rumble of the transport's engines and tracks. The bloodlust of these berserkers are at a fever pitch, they are ready to lay into the nearest enemy and prove themselves fierce warriors.
The Wolf Guard smirks beneath his helm at these young pups. He shares their battle fury, he was chosen to lead the Blood Claws due to his lust for warfare. Yet it is he that would temper these wild spirits.
He let out a deep bass growl, the sound amplified by his Terminator Armor's vox caster. Immediately the Blood Claws stopped their yelling and howling.
"Listen up Sons of Russ!" The Wolf Guard began. "We have been designated to take Objective Kraken by Bjorn the Fell Handed himself." The hush deepened at the mention of that venerable warrior. "We hit the ground running at a sprint and you will follow me with zero distractions. Until that point has our flag on it!"
"And then? After?" Brother Ulfric asked, clenching his powerfist before him.
"Then, we hold that objective... By killing anything near it with the fury of Fenris!"
A huge roar drowned out the sounds the Land Raider made as the Blood Claws voiced their approval. They would follow him into battle. He would make Grey Hunters out of them yet.
The assault ramp clanged open. Over the thud of the Heavy Bolter and the fizz of Lascannon fire the Blood Claws charged out into the light, the Wolf Guard was in the lead, Storm Shield Raised and Thunder Hammer activated.
This weekend I was able to finish painting the details on my Blood Claws.
Granted, they were painted before, but I have gone up a slight level in my painting and wanted to do some specific details.
This squad is kitted out as follows:
1x Wolf Guard Leader in Terminator Armor, Thunderhammer and Stormshield
1x Pack Leader with Power Fist
1x Blood Claw with Meltagun
1x Blood Claw with Chainsword and Plasma Pistol
5x Blood Claws with Chainswords and Bolt Pistols
Blood Claws get a staggering amount of attacks.
The Chainswords guys (6 of them) get 4x attacks on the charge, 24 Attacks. Most effective in the Assault Doctrine this means 6's score extra hits, they hit on 2+ and they get -2 AP. The Meltagun man will have 3 attacks at -1AP and the Powerfist will have 4 attacks with his S8 AP -4.
Add to that another 3 attacks from the Thunder Hammer and this squad packs a serious punch.
Out of experience I would say that they end up in combat a lot earlier than the third turn in regular battles and I am likely to lose models from the squad long before the Assault Doctrine ticks over.
Pack markings are the same design between the Blood Claws and the Wolf Guard. The colors donate rank. In this case, Black and Yellow means Wolf Guard and Red and Yellow means Blood Claws.
