Hello Hive! So it has been a while now since 11th edition launched and I have managed to play a good 16-ish games of it. So here I am going to share with you the main differences between 10th and 11th edition.
In the general gist of the game, the game is mostly the same. If you knew how the Command Phase, Movement Phase, Shooting Phase, Charge Phase and Fight Phase worked before, then that is mostly the same.
If you knew how statlines work with M/T/W/Sv and weapons statlines with WS/BS/S/AP/D, then everything in that regard is the same.
If you wanted me to go over those basics I can, but most of the core concepts are freely available on the warhammer app.
Instead I will share with you all the biggest differences in my opinion.
Missions are based on Army Archetypes - Dispositions
There are now five types of army Dispositions and every Army Faction has a Detachment that uses each of them, sometimes in multiples. So the kind of army you play will determine the Disposition.
These are: Take and Hold, Purge the Foe, Priority Assets, Reconnaissance, and Disruption.
When you are matched with your opponent, then you will compare Dispositions that THAT will determine what mission you will play.
This is an interesting thing. I have been playing Purge the Foe. Most of my enemies have been Take and Hold, Priority Assets and Reconnaissance. I have not really been able to play against Disruption properly so I have no concept of that match will look like.
I have however been having a lot of fun with the new edition. Some of the core changes to the rules make it possible to set up an army in such a way that if you do not go first, and you deployed right, they should not be able to see you and shoot at you.
Most of the time for both players turn 1 is quick and turn 2 and 3 is most important for dealing damage and setting yourself up for scoring.
