Guess who is back, Hive? After almost 3 years of absence I decided to get back into blogging. And I am very motivated and excited to post about my current journey. Since this is kind of a fresh start I am excited to start blogging about a newly found passion of mine: Warhammer 40k! And with that I would like to introduce you to some video games and more around this genre. In my come back post I would like to talk a little bit about this franchise itself, a very interesting video game I picked up recently and last but not least my Youtube channel Learning General-40k that I created based on this passion. With that being said, let’s jump right into it!
Warhammer 40k Universe
Now for all of you that do not know about Warhammer 40k – What have you been doing for the past years of your life? Probably, spending your time and money more wisely than myself. Well, all jokes aside, I think this franchise does need a big introduction, other than it takes place in the 41st millennia, hence the 40,000 in the name. And ‘Warhammer’ describes the premise of the franchise: The whole galaxy is at war.
We are talking about different races, like Orks, Humans, Space Elves, Undead Machines and so on being at war with each other. You guys probably heard of the Space Marines. This is where those guys are originating from. Anyhow, this franchise has a bunch of lore that is captured in books as well as games. A very big part of this franchise is also assembling and painting your miniature figurines which you can then use to battle other players in a table top version. This is going on for the past 40+ years and it does not look like it will stop anytime soon. With some great plot twists in the lore and a double digit of factions that you can chose from, this franchise has become one that is very well known in the current culture and so the question is now, are there any video games about this as well?
Battlesector Warhammer 40k
The easy answer is: Absolutely! There are a bunch of video games out there, but the question is, which ones are worth playing?? Well, it depends on what you actually want to play. If you want a more action packed game, you would probably chose Space Marine 2. If you like a bunch of reading and RPG, you probably well off with Rogue Trader. But if you would like a table-top experience where you command your own army but don’t want to spend the money and time to assemble and paint a whole miniature army, Battlesector is exactly your game!
You see, this game has different stages. The base game allows you to play the Blood Angels – an army that is very popular within the fandom- and it gives you a great campaign run with lots of lore and great moments! It is actually a very great beginner game if you are into turn based strategy games. Furthermore, you have options to expand your experience with other armies and other game mods. And the best about it? Although it came out a few years ago, it still get new content frequently. I even created a video about this game and the state of it in 2026 so feel free to check it out!:
My Channel
With that being said, I recently started a whole gaming channel about this and other Warhammer 40k games. My plan is to keep posting as long as the hobby is fun to me. Saying that, I would like to post about my video game experience as well, which lead me back to Hive. I am sure that I can combine my passion to video games, with the passion of sharing my experiences visually as well as in written form via blog. I hope that I sparked interest in this kind of video game genre and I hope to see some of you visiting my channel as well. Hope to see you soon, in the next blog!
