Zak here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is my 40k collection, slowly building up, bit by bit...
Recently I made a Big Purchase of second hand models from another player. It was a bundle that I bought and thus, you get quite a good deal as long as you are prepared to repaint miniatures.
I do not.
So in this collection were some Fenrisian Wolves, a cheap and expendable unit that is great for harassing the enemy or holding objectives while nobody is looking!
The thing about these wolves is that they were actually not painted too badly, but honestly, when it comes to fur and a bit of drybrushing - the model does all the work and they come out great!
But the wolves started out looking like Justin Timberwolves so I made them a bit more Grey so they can fit in with the other old style wolves that I have in my collection.
I then did teeth, tounges and eyes. I even added a bit of a scar across the one wolf's eye.
Here are the pictures:
The poses of these wolves are quite awesome and dynamic. It makes them look like they are bounding and snarling. They are fast, but in the great 41st millennium, they are not exactly super powerful. If they get shot at by most units in the game, they are going to disappear and even in combat, they arent that great. But they might manage to soak up some overwatch from an enemy or harass some *Nerds somewhere.
*T'au, non-combat Eldar, Guardsmen and Mechanicus shooters, Or anything else that's really weak to melee.
Rules-wise this is what they are capable of:
Like most Space Wolves units, they have a synergy when it comes to the Assault Doctrine... yes, very well trained wolves, they follow Space Marine Combat Doctrines. In the Assault Doctrine they will be generating additional attacks on 6's to hit and then be biting with a -2 AP! Imagine biting so hard a 3+ power armor save becomes a 5+?!
Also this is about 15 attacks, should a 5-wolf unit actually get into assault without disappearing in a puff of red mist and fur.
They should, statistically have 2x 6's and 1-2x misses, so this should give us around 14-15 hits at S4 with -2AP. This means 6-7 Wounds scored against marines and then causing around 3-5 Damage, killing 1-2 Space Marines. That is some scary Fauna!
Let's compare that to regular (Battle Trained)humans, 6-7 dead humans on the turn 5 of these wolves charge into melee! That's pretty crazy!
Though, as I have said. I do not expect them to see combat in the 3rd turn. Likely some after-thought level firepower will make them disappear. But its 7pts a model or 35pts for the Pack of 5!
Right! Add another 35pts to the grand total!
Thank you for reading!
Cheers!
