Hello everyone! Today I'm going to share about the lunch I had two days ago. There was a new restaurant that opened near my place recently. I went there with my family to try the food out. It is located in Sri Rampai, K.L., Malaysia.

The following is the address:

Lot 14074, OFF, Jalan 59/26, Taman Sri Rampai, 53300 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur.

It is an Indian restaurant so they serve Indian means, both North and South Indian cuisines. I was thrilled to eat there because there hasn't been a proper Indian restaurant in this area for a long time and usually we travel far all the way to Sentul if we want to eat a satisfying meal.

This is the building of the restaurant. It is called Kaara Cutney Restaurant which means spicy chutney restaurant. It was large as a part of the building was the restaurant itself and the other part on the right was an event space that can be rented for functions.

Here's a closer look of the name board. The area was quite large with lots of parking spaces too. There were also some garden areas the many flowers around the parking area. It added a nice pop of colour.

This is the dining area of the restaurant. It looked like a hotel banquet with the beautiful and elegant gold and white theme. The tables and chairs were all neatly arranged. There were some charming chandeliers on top and warm lights all around. It was also fully air-conditioned so the dining will be comfortable even when the weather outside is warm.

This is the menu. The staffs were very friendly and amiable. They brought the menu to us and gave one to each of us. They offered both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. There were meal sets including thali sets that I like. Also there were biryani meals as well. Then I saw a ton of drinks being offered from coffee and tea, to lassi and juice. We all ordered whatever we wanted.

While waiting for our meals to arrive, I had a little window. I used that time to take some selfies because the lighting was warm and bright. Pictures look really great due to the lighting and the theme as well. It was like an artificial golden hour.

My brother and I ordered lassi as our drinks. We only ever get to drink them in some Indian restaurants and not all of them have it on their menu. So I got a regular sweet lassi while my brother got a glass of mango lassi. That's why there is a colour difference between both beverages.

This is mine and it is made with yogurt and ice blended together. They also added some sugar. The consistency of the lassi was thick and it was so refreshing to drink it during the warm afternoon. As we are dealing with bad haze right now in Malaysia, it feels so warm unless it rains. By the way, lassi helps to reduce the spiciness of our meals in case they are too spicy. The yogurt which is dairy neutralizes the chilli to an extent. This is why we like pairing yogurt drinks with meals.

This is my brother's lassi. It is similar but has some mangoes in it which gives the yellowish tint.

This is Madras coffee that both of my parents ordered. It is also known as the South Indian filter coffee. It is made in the traditional way using a filter. It is strong and rich with cow milk. It takes a while to make the decoction using the filter but it is worth the wait. The staff poured the coffee back and forth between the tumbler and davara container for my father.

This is the chicken biryani which my brother ordered. It comes with the biryani rice and the chicken in it served in a container. This type of biryani is called the dum biryani. There are other kinds where they are prepared differently. The plating also comes with a little container of some curry and another one filled with raita. Raita is made of yogurt mixed with sliced onion, cucumber and carrots.

This the chicken that was hidden in the biryani rice. There was a generous amount of rice too.

Similarly, this is mutton biryani which is what my father ordered. We tried to order different items so that we can try a little of each meal. There were pieces of mutton in the rice and they were cut in a certain way so their juices get in the rice to give them a unique taste. The rice quantity was a lot and my father could not finish it and asked all of us to help. At the end my brother finished them as we had our own portion to eat.

This is what my mother and I ordered. It is a thali set with an add on of chicken. The basic thali set comes with rice and a bunch of other items such as dhal, rasam, cauliflower, cabbage, raita, ginger sour pickle (inji puli) and a pappadam. We got an extra item with chicken perattal as we added that on. It had a lot of gravy too. Of course, there was also a bowl of white rice which is under the papadam. It was a lot and I struggled to finish it.

Here's a closer look at the chicken. It was a little spicy but then it was fine as we can adjust it accordingly with the rice and by eating them with the dhal and rasam.

So I turned my plate around to start eating. I did take a ton of pictures as I really like thali sets because they come with everything in their own little containers all around the rice. It was a fulfilling meal. I suggest going there when you are in full swing hunger so that you will be able to finish everything especially the rice.

I started eating my meal with very little gravy at first so I don't trigger any acid reflux. It was alright for me honestly but my mother did say it was a little spicy because she poured it like curry on her rice. I didn't do that so I didn't have any burning sensation although I had gastric a day earlier. In the last picture I was trying to eat more so I can finish my meal by keeping some rice in my cheeks like monkeys do.

After my meal, I did look around and the friendly staff showed us the event room. Golden Meadow Palace is the name of the event space they have here. They added the name of the room at the entrance so people know they have arrived at the right venue during the events.

This is how it looks. It was a large hall, fully furnished and designed with the same gold and white theme as the restaurant. It appeared to be classy and elegant. The floors were shining as they were well maintained. It seemed to be a perfect location for birthdays, baby aqiqah ceremonies, and even wedding dinners. I checked their videos on social media and it seems that plenty of events do take place there. We can ask them to decorate with the colour palette that we like so it is not set in stone to keep it up with the default gold theme.

My review

It was a great experience dining in this restaurant. I really enjoyed the peaceful meal without the buzzing noise as the location had some distance from the main roads. I had a full tummy and ended up only eating fruits for dinner as I felt like I had a large stone inside due to eating so much during lunch. It was a hearty, satisfying meal. I will definitely go again and try other food options offered there.

Thank you for dropping by and I hope that you have a great day ahead!
