Hello everyone! Today I'm going to share a drawing that I did today. It is the character Squidward from a famous cartoon called SpongeBob SquarePants. Ths is actually one of my favourite cartoons and I always watched it when I was a kid.

The Inktober prompt for Day 16 is 'Gangly'

Gangly means someone tall with strange proportions with very long limbs. I thought Squidward fit this description perfectly. He is a squid and has long tentacles. I always felt that he is too grumpy but as I got older, I started to understand his point of view and why he became like that. It is hard to be energetic and happy like SpongeBob when we don't enjoy our jobs.

I started the drawing with his grumpy and annoyed looking face first. I didn't stop in the middle to avoid breaking the flow and didn't want to get his facial features wrong.

Then I drew his shirt that he wears to work. I also added some shading to his hands and head, along with little spots.

I finally added his gangly features which are his long tentacles on which he stands on.

I felt like there was too much of empty space on the page so I added some details in the background. I added some uneven underwater surface like little mountains. Then I drew some sea mushrooms and seaweed.

I wanted to add some colours so I used my crafting ballpen set I got for art and journaling with coloured inks. Lastly I added some large outlines looking like flowers. But they are actually supposed to be oil spills. If we watch the cartoon carefully, we can notice some details that indicate humans have polluted the sea, not just with oil spills but with other waste items discarded into it. The sea creatures have just built their lives around it.

So that's my drawing for today's Inktober challenge. I'm still behind but I'm catching up. Thank you for dropping by and I wish you a beautiful day.
