Hello everyone! I can't skip my Inktober post can I? So here's my Inktober of the day.
The prompt for Inktober Day 17 is 'Contraption'
A contraption is basically an old fashioned machine that's awkward and can even seem a little clumsy. My mind immediately went to this cartoon I adore so much and loved watching when I was younger. It is called 'Gloria's House'. Even now sometimes I check the videos on YouTube to reminisce.
It is about a family who are a little weird but very close knitted and warm. It gives a comfy and homey feeling when I watch it. The father is an inventor and he creates all kinds of machines that they use for convenience in the household like a kitchen gadget and even an elevator to go upstairs. So for the Inktober challenge, I decided to draw a toaster machine that sends food flying straight to the plate.
This is the basic toaster machine. It is similar to the one we see in the store. I just drew it and shaded the smallest area the darkest to create depth.
I have added more details here to the toaster like wheels at the bottom to move it around and some weird handles on the sides. There are some wires hanging around too. That seems like a hazard to me but I was just trying to recreate what I saw in the cartoon. It was in the first episode during a breakfast scene.
There was also a tennis racket installed on the wall and somehow it is connected to the toaster. I'm assuming that, because it knows whenever a new bread is ready. Once the bread pops out of the toaster, the tennis racket immediately gets triggered and hits the bread, sending it flying to the dining table. I was fascinated to see that in the cartoon and wondered what it would be like if we have this setup in real.
I drew a dining table nearby to create a breakfast scene. There's another bread flying it's way to the plate on the table. It looks funny and strange but it is also kind of cool. I remember the father also invented a machine to feed his son as the boy was always playing drums so the machine feeds him. Anyway that sums up my Inktober drawing for today.
Thank you for dropping by and I hope that you have a wonderful day ahead!
