I greet you, wishing you well.
This weekend I received a very special visitor in my home and I wanted to prepare, among other things, a very powerful and beneficial drink for the body, besides being delicious and refreshing, ideal for these hot days.
It is the sour taste of tamarind, which is rich in vitamins A and C and antioxidants, among others.
Three ingredients, in addition to water, merged to be poured into the glasses and toast, this time without alcohol, to the pleasant and unique moments we can create in our lives. Making it clear that, from simplicity, care and affection, we can make magic in the kitchen with few steps.
My guest is used to doing magic in the kitchen, but this time I asked her to put her wand aside and let me be the one to serve.
She loved the tamarind soda that we shared while telling stories, amidst music and laughter. And I can tell you that, if she liked it, it was not only because it was very delicious but also because it was very natural as it did not contain sugar, however, that did not prevent it from having enough sweetness for her enjoyment.
So, without further ado, I want to share how I prepared this #amazingdrink and I would like, as always, for you to join me.
1/4 of a small papelón or piloncillo.
1/2 package of tamarind.
2 juicy lemons.
1 liter of water.
In this opportunity I am using half of the small tamarind that comes already packed, which I put to soak with the water and the piece of papelón for about 5 hours in the refrigerator to keep it cold, in a covered container.
After the indicated time, the papelón had dissolved and the tamarind was very soft. With the help of a strainer and a spoon I extracted as much pulp as possible from the tamarind, added it back to the water and strained it again to extract more pulp and then kept it all the time in the water so that it would continue to release its essence.
I added the juice from the lemons, stirred well and it was ready to serve.
Since the seeds still have pulp, I let them soak in some of the juice so that they continue to release their edible part, then more water can be added. Other times I have extracted the pulp with a little hot water on the stove.
It was really delicious, sweet, sour and refreshing.
A round of applause for the incredible moments, that we shared with amazing drinks, together with incredible people. Thank you dear @aguamiel for your visit.
