Greetings, everyone. Today I’m inspired to share a natural, refreshing drink with you—one that’s perfect for the hot weather we’re experiencing in the city this season. Between the El Niño phenomenon and sudden temperature fluctuations, we find ourselves needing to consume more fluids, so I whipped up a spectacular beetroot, ginger, and lemon drink.
- 1 remolacha.
- 500 gramos o una raíz de jengibre fresco.
- 6 limones
- agua fría o hielo al gusto.
- azúcar si lo deseas.
The ingredients for this delicious, refreshing drink are natural and easy to find at the market—or you may already have them at home. They are:
- 1 beetroot.
- 500 grams of fresh ginger root (or one whole root).
- 6 lemons.
- Cold water or ice, to taste.
- Sugar, if desired.
The first step is to wash and peel the beetroot and cut it into small pieces; next, peel the ginger and cut it into chunks—I used a moderate amount so the spiciness wouldn't be too overpowering when drinking it. I wash the lemons thoroughly with water and cut them in half, as I will be squeezing them by hand.
Next, place the beetroot, ginger, and some sugar to taste into the blender with cold water, but first add the freshly squeezed lemon juice. Then, blend these ingredients together to create a divine and naturally refreshing drink.
Después de mezclar lo pasamos por un colador y dejamos o reservamos el resto para hacer otra cosas como ponque o comer solo, eso es fibra también... y nos ponemos a disfrutar con hielo y rodajas de limón de eta deliciosa bebida.
When preparing this drink, we let it blend for a minute or more; the goal is for the ingredients to meld perfectly, resulting in an excellent beverage. Some of its benefits include: ginger provides fiber and boosts the immune system; beets are rich in folic acid, iron, and other minerals that are great for the body; and lemons provide Vitamin C. The combination of these ingredients is highly beneficial for our bodies—and best of all, it is natural and refreshing.
After blending, we strain the mixture and set the pulp aside to use in other ways—such as in cake batter or simply eaten on its own (since it is fiber, after all)—and then we enjoy this delicious drink served over ice with lemon slices.
Alright, time to have this drink. You can enjoy it in the morning, in the afternoon, or whenever you like—there’s no set time for it, especially with the intense heat—over 40 degrees—we’re experiencing these days. It’s a refreshing, natural drink; whether you have it with or without sugar, it’s excellent and highly recommended. See you later, friends, and take care. Photos are my own.
