If we listen to what the internet has to say, than we would all turn into literal potatoes.
Cardio is BAD
Women Should Not LIFT
CARBS ARE NOT ALLOWED if you wanna be skinny
These are lines we have heard and frankly all of them are incorrect.
Hi, I'm Vera!
Like all millennial women today, we are all living in a place where judgement is everywhere.
Advertisements consume us through declaration of new "EASY" ways to loose weight.
I have figured out the reason for why it is close to impossible for women to become confident with their bodies.
At a time when I felt happiest about myself, the world that we live in had to come and discourage my LOVE for my BODY.
We are exposed to constant ideologies, the biggest of which being the need to stay in shape.
YOU should do what makes YOU feel GOOD about Your BODY--- Is what we are told on a daily basis. Unfortunately, I wish this statement had a little more truth to it.
I enjoy working out, pushing myself to the limit, and seeing results in the mirror. I have recently acquired a local gym membership and I've always thought of it as a place where each person does their own thing, and where no one bothers anyone else.
FALSE!!!
As I had become a regular there, the unmentionable had taken place!
A male had the brain to come up to me and tell me that I was working out WRONG!
I felt as I was being attacked. They continued to tell me that a WOMEN should NEVER lift weights if they wants to have A THIN WAISTLINE.
Excuse me sir, but NO. I get that he is voicing his concern, but that is unacceptable.
The reason for which women have a hard time getting a body that they feel confident in is because of the negative influences which are all around us. I think my body is fit, I have a lean stomach and in the morning I can clearly see definition of all 6 of my abs. Yet this individuals comment made me go home and stare in the mirror, asking myself: Is my stomach too big? too bulky? not feminine?
The reason for our insecurity with our body is simple:
No matter what we do, there will always be people who feel the need to tell us that we are
- too muscular
- need to tone
*should run on a treadmill (which is actually really bad for you) - SHOULD NEVER LIFT WEIGHTS
what we need to do and once and for all understand is that we are perfect the way we are, and everything YOU do to improve yourself is because you want to do it. NO ONE ELSE'S OPINION MATTERS.
Although society has trained us to always criticize ourselves, that is no way to live. It is our job to understand that every "Bikini Workout" video we see is BS.
Because in order to have a bikini body, you need a body and a bikini. That is ALL!
I will now be creating a series of posts in which I am going to share the truth behind getting a body that you feel confident in. These may consist of specific workouts, brain exercises, and apparel options. Either way, I am determined to get you to love yourself since that is the most important thing.
