The ashes of Dacian
That evening, she went up to Father Anselm.
“Father, please, let us dig deeper into the saint’s history. There is a feeling of unease... something is off.”
The look in the priest’s eyes grew colder. “Saint Dacian is the pride of this very abbey. You will not utter blasphemy against him.”

Echo of the Foam
From a distance, the mayor adjusted his binoculars and saw an anthropomorphic figure clinging to the top of the church. He estimated its height to be close to that of a large bear. He called the sheriff, who, along with Michael, was giving directions to the other competitors. He thought the great idea would end in tragedy; instead of shaking off boredom, it would fuel the fear and apparent peace of New River Village.

A mystery to investigate
Aaaaaaaaaa, Griselda's scream echoed throughout the house and I was paralyzed. A few minutes later the lights in the hallway came on and my mother and then my grandmother entered the library.
"But what happened, what are you doing here at this hour?" My mother's voice was a mixture of astonishment and disgust.
"They were spying on me, I saw them through the window". My grandfather with red eyes had entered the library and his laughter was not normal at all.

The King’s Dice
Excited, Pharaoh joined the game. Throwing the dice with so much stress and ease, just like he does back at the palace. The boys cheered at his skills. And for the first time in years, he laughed louder than he had in years. He lost his stone at some point, but he won it back in the next game and more. He yelled, laughed, rolled in the dust like a normal human and not a God.

My Love Letters
For many months I admired him secretly while I continued writing him notes, in bits and pieces, with snippets of admiration and I slipped those notes in his work area where I knew he would find them.
Ena never made a fuss of it. He would find the notes and he would read them in solitude. He never made jokes about them. He was that calm and composed.
But the office had eyes.

Madness
"You do know you sound quite insane right now?"
"Madness is something decided on others. The mad men never see themselves as mad. So I guess to another person, I might sound insane even if I'm telling the truth."
"So you think you're not mad?"
"At the very least not any less mad than you."

My Uncle's Best Man
“This man,” he went on, “this man you see here, was once the king of late-night parties. I swear!"
The laughter from the crowd quickly grew uneasy. I watch him chuckle to himself. He was probably enjoying the attention. I was almost fuming. I knew my uncle had lived recklessly as a bachelor but exposing such a past life on his wedding day from a man who was his partner in crime was such a painful thing.
