Bob was a wealthy young man who had everything money could buy. He owned a beautiful house, drove expensive cars, and had a successful business. However, despite his wealth, he had one major problem: he could not tell whether the women who approached him genuinely loved him or were only interested in his money.
After several disappointing relationships, Bob decided to try something different. He would pretend to be a poor man and find out whether a woman could love him without knowing his financial status.
One afternoon, he met a beautiful young woman named Joyce. She was hardworking, respectful, and kind to everyone around her. Bob became interested in her and decided to approach her, but this time, he introduced himself as a struggling young man who could barely afford his daily needs.
To his surprise, Joyce agreed to get to know him. She did not demand expensive gifts or insist that he take her to fancy restaurants. Instead, she appreciated the little things he could offer and encouraged him to keep working hard.
As their relationship grew, Bob began to fall deeply in love with Joyce. For the first time, he felt that someone genuinely cared about him rather than his possessions. However, he was also troubled by the fact that he was hiding the truth from her.
Things became complicated when Joyce's friends started questioning her decision to date a man they believed had nothing to offer her. Some mocked her, while others encouraged her to find a wealthy man who could provide a better life. Joyce refused to abandon Bob simply because she believed he was poor.
Eventually, Bob decided that it was time to reveal his true identity. He invited Joyce to what she thought would be an ordinary outing, but instead, she found herself in front of his magnificent mansion, surrounded by luxury cars.

Joyce was shocked when Bob explained that he was actually a wealthy businessman and that he had pretended to be poor because he wanted to find someone who would love him for who he was.
Rather than feeling happy, Joyce was deeply hurt. She asked him why he had not trusted her enough to tell her the truth from the beginning. She explained that although she loved him, she did not appreciate being tested like a child
Joyce walked away from Bob in tears after discovering that he had lied about being poor. She felt betrayed because she had loved him sincerely, supported him, and encouraged him when she believed he was struggling financially. What hurt her most was that he had been testing her love instead of trusting her.
Bob explained that he had pretended to be poor because several women had dated him only for his money, and he wanted to find someone who would love him for who he was. However, Joyce refused to accept his explanation and walked away.
One evening, her close friend, mary, visited her.

"I don't understand why you are crying over this man," mary said. "At least you have discovered that he is rich. Do you know how many women would be happy to be in your position?"

Joyce looked at her.

"That is exactly the problem. Everybody keeps talking about his money. Nobody seems to understand that he lied to me."

Mary sat beside her and held her hand.

"I understand that you are hurt, but you should also consider why he did what he did. Maybe he was afraid of being used."

"Being afraid does not give him the right to deceive me," Joyce replied.

Mary nodded. She knew her friend was right, but she also knew that Joyce still had feelings for Bob.
For several days, both of them struggled with the separation. Bob missed Joyce terribly, while Joyce found it difficult to forget the man she had grown to love. Although she still had feelings for him, she was not ready to forgive his deception.
Eventually, Bob visited Joyce at the small shop where she worked. He apologized sincerely and admitted that he had made a terrible mistake. He told her that his feelings for her were genuine and promised not to pressure her into returning to him.
Joyce told him she needed time, and Bob respected her decision. Over the following weeks, he gave her space and gradually began to earn her trust through his actions.
One Saturday, they met again at a charity event sponsored by Bob's company. They spoke to each other, shared a few laughs, and later talked about their lives during the drive to Joyce's house.
Before leaving, Bob asked Joyce if she would give their relationship another chance. Joyce agreed, but she made it clear that she would never tolerate another lie from him. Bob promised to be honest with her from that moment onward.
Months later, Bob took Joyce to the place where they had first met. As they reminisced about their early days together, he went down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
Joyce was overwhelmed with happiness. With tears in her eyes, she accepted his proposal, and Bob embraced her lovingly. After everything they had been through, they were finally ready to begin a new chapter of their lives together.
