Too Late!
“If only I could see her one more time. If I can just tell her I never forgot that day at the restaurant, when she gave me the bigger meat because I was tired—that was the day I knew I loved her.”
I began to cry. I couldn’t hold it in. Every word hit like a blade.
“He never stopped talking about you, Chioma,” Mama Azuka said, tears in her own eyes. “Even when the pain got worse. He begged God for one chance. Just one moment, to see you again.”

Where did you go to get here?
Nothing answered me and I stepped through the briar into the copse of trees. The oak was grotquse. Limbs gnarled and covered in bark like old bones. The leaves were pale as the newly dead and the stink was that of a mortuary. The man who stood in front of it looked like my father would have if he hadn’t died from drink a few years after my sister was lost. He lost a daughter, but I lost a sister and a father. And mother died when we were born.

"It isn't a scam." She sat down on a pavement nearby and wiped her face with the tail of her wrapper.
"But...."
"No Zerah. Return it."
"You didn't even let me finish." I squeezed my face.
"You're broke. Salary hasn't been paid. I know that temptation. I've been there." She smiled.
I smiled.

A Bicycle Gamble
Her hands were steadier than mine as she helped me onto the seat. The ground suddenly felt a great distance away, though it couldn't have been more than three feet. Everything wobbled - the bike, my own confidence, the entire universe.
"I got you," she said to me, and I could feel her grip on the back of the seat, strong and reassuring. "Just pedal. Don't think, just pedal."

I held on to the nail cutter on my key.
I planned ten different escape scenes in my head, like a Nollywood actress. My heart was beating fast, and I was staring at the door handle. But I couldn't jump out of a moving car.

The Matyr And The Nurse
"Do you still feel like a Matyr?" One of the TV presenters asked Ameera during an interview.
No,” she answered. “I feel… reborn.”
“And you?”
“I feel,” Eliana whispered, “like I’m not alone anymore.”

Project closure
To this end, I did a test with my own voice, modulating the power of the stylus on the console, which I kept at "fifty hertz." However, I reduced the treble level to a quarter of an amplitude to avoid the characteristic feedback and achieve a clean tone. Furthermore, I would reduce the emphasis on the endings of the "S" notes, which are so annoying to the listener.
I adjusted the bass to 40 percent, and finally the "Presence" or resonance knob, also to a quarter of a cycle, to preserve the voice's body without attenuation.
