Recipes for crying
Arriving home was also a stress because it was not only cooking, it was also mopping, picking up clothes, folding. I felt sad, disoriented and I was almost always sweaty, with dirty clothes and in a bad mood. My parents worked and arrived at night, so we had to be in charge, keeping order until they arrived. Mom would take off her clothes, eat and then set about tidying up for the next day:
"Tomorrow it's time to make potato salad",_ she would announce, and it was starting the cycle all over again, the race, once more.

When the Wind Blows
“Hannah stop!” Lina yelled.
Hannah paused and turned her head forcefully. She clenched her jaw and with a sinister look in her eyes, she raced to Lirosa and held her neck. “When the wind blows, and the night falls, we’ll leap and let go.” Hannah whispered in a voice that wasn't hers. “Let's play Lirosa. Your turn.”
“Oh my God Hannah.” Lina, terrified, barely moved as hot tears streamed from her eyes.

A mother's guilt
"My son began to adapt to the daycare and as the days went by, he stopped crying. Even when he was a toddler, he understood that I would pick him up at a certain time, and he would no longer get him asleep, but playing. When I arrived, he was waiting for me. Through him, I learned to control my anxiety and guilt, and the time we were together I indulged him and gave him all the care and love he didn't get from me while he was in daycare".

Mama Chinedu
"You young people," she laughed.
We got home and I thanked and bid Mama Chinedu goodnight. I got into my apartment, and without unpacking all I bought, I slumped into the couch. Before I knew it, I dozed off.
I was woken by the sound of a knock on my door. I dragged myself to the door and opened it. On the other side was Mama Chinedu with a plate of food.
