Good day and Happy Mother's Day to all our mothers! I'm glad to be able to participate again for zord189's Hive Creative Contest in collaboration with the Foodies Bee Hive Community.
For this week's contest, the main ingredient is egg!
Hive Creative Contest | The Egg-citing Dish (Contest Details)
Egg is among the most used ingredient for cooking various foods and commonly eaten during breakfast. It's packed with nutrients like protein, omega-3, choline, antioxidants, vitamin A/B5/B12/D/E, selenium, riboflavin, phosporus, iodine, and iron. Contrary to belief of many, eggs contain good cholesterol that is very beneficial for our body. So don't worry as you can eat as many eggs as you want in a day. When my brother got diagnosed with brain atrophy several years ago, his doctor recommended him to eat 6 organic eggs everyday.
For this week's ingredient, I will share to an easy yet quirky way to eat eggs with bread:
"Egg in a Hole"
INGREDIENTS | ||
|---|---|---|
| ♥ 2 Slices Wheat Bread | ||
| ♥ 2 Eggs | ||
| ♥ Bacon | ||
| ♥ Cheese | ||
| ♥ Ground pepper | ||
| ♥ Butter |
PROCEDURE
#1 Fry bacon and set aside.
#2 Using a circular cutter or any circular object like a glass, punch a hole into both wheat breads.
#3 Put some butter into a pan and place one slice of bread. Crack one egg into the hole and wait until the egg gets cooked. Set aside. Do the same with the second bread.
#4 Arrange the cheese and bacon into the bread. Dash some ground pepper and cover with the other bread. Enjoy!
And that is all! Isn't this recipe too easy and fun to make? It only looks kind of difficult to make looking by the photo but it's actually very easy. This was made by my mother and I was very amazed the first time she cooked this recipe. You can layer some mayonnaise and lettuce if you wish or any other ingredient you think would make this recipe taste better and according to your preference. By the way, my mother used three breads as you can see on the photo but 2 breads is actually enough already. :)
I'm pretty sure cooking this for your visitors will impress them and kids would most likely stare in awe seeing an egg cramped at the center of a bread. You can use any kind of bread, though we choose wheat bread for making this recipe because it's larger than the regular breads.
Let me know if you would try this recipe. Thank you!
