I played a Splinterlands battle and started thinking about how much difference accuracy can make during a fight. Sometimes, I focus so much on the strength of my monsters that I forget an attack can fail to hit its target. It does not matter how powerful a monster is if its attack misses at the wrong moment. This made me interested in the Blind ability and how it can affect the chances of an opposing team landing its attacks.
Blind gives the opposing monsters a lower chance of hitting their targets. At first, this might not sound as impressive as an ability that increases damage or restores health, but I think its value becomes clearer when I consider what happens during a close battle. Every successful attack matters, especially when both teams have monsters that can deal significant damage. If an enemy misses an important attack, it could give my team another opportunity to fight back.
One thing I like about abilities such as Blind is that they introduce uncertainty into the battle. I can select monsters with good attack power and build what looks like a strong team, but I still need to consider the possibility that things will not go exactly as planned. Blind can make the opponent’s attacks less reliable, potentially giving my monsters more time to survive and contribute.
This also made me think about the difference between offensive and defensive strategies. When I choose offensive cards, I usually think about how quickly I can eliminate the opponent’s monsters. I want enough damage to weaken the frontline and eventually reach the monsters behind it. However, a defensive strategy can be just as important. Sometimes, the best way to improve my chances is not to deal more damage but to make it harder for the enemy to deal damage to me.
Of course, Blind is not a guarantee that the opponent will miss. The enemy can still land attacks, so I would not want to rely on this ability as my only form of protection. If I place weak monsters in dangerous positions and assume the opponent will keep missing, I could lose them quickly. It makes more sense to combine this kind of support with monsters that have useful health, armor, or defensive abilities.
I also began considering how Blind might work alongside a team that already has good survivability. Imagine having a strong frontline monster that can absorb attacks while the rest of the team deals damage from behind. If the opposing monsters have a reduced chance of hitting their targets, my frontline might survive longer than expected. That extra time could allow my damage dealers to remove one or two enemies and gradually shift the battle in my favor.
Another lesson is that I should pay attention to the ruleset before deciding whether a particular ability is worth using. Not every battle requires the same approach. Some situations reward high damage, while others make survival and control more valuable. Blind could be useful in the right circumstances, but I still need to consider the available cards, their abilities, and the threats presented by the opposing lineup.
I am learning that team building in Splinterlands is not simply about finding the strongest individual monsters. A team works best when its cards complement one another. One monster might provide protection, another might deal consistent damage, and another might make the opponent’s attacks less reliable. Each card can contribute something different, and those contributions become more meaningful when they support the same overall strategy.
What interests me most is how an ability that does not directly increase my damage can still influence the outcome of a battle. Blind does not need to destroy an enemy monster by itself to be useful. Its value comes from the opportunities it may create when an opposing attack misses. Those opportunities can help my team survive longer and give my attackers more time to do their work.
As I continue playing, I want to spend more time studying abilities that affect the opponent rather than focusing only on cards that increase my own team’s power. Understanding these details can help me make better choices before a battle begins. I may not always select the perfect combination, but learning how abilities work gives me more options and helps me approach each match with a clearer strategy.
