Here is a walk at Giant City State Park in Southern Illinois for this #wednesdaywalk by 
This park is at the very bottom of the state of Illinois.
This is a large state park with lots of trails through various huge stones.
The way these sandstone deposits broke up after the ice age makes it look like these are solid concrete walls.
Grandma and granddaughter really loved the huge stones.
Over a hundred years of grafitti is scratched into this rock wall. Some from the 1800s and others from settlers before then.
Someone tried to carve a strange face in the stone. Instead of a fancy face it turned into something creepy looking.
I have no idea how tall these rock walls are. They dwarf the trees.
Lots of easy climbing here with all sorts of hidden pathways. Have to watch out for timber rattlers hiding out here.
I suspect this is some strange erosion that happened when the ice age glaciers melted.
We only saw a few of the trails but there are many more places to see. There is even a place called The Mini Grand Canyon. Eventually we'll be back down here again to explore more.
