It was a time when mankind had left the surface to live underground. Radioactive winds were a constant evil. The little girl ran with all her might to reach the entry point, but a cloud of dust made her lose her way. The sensor on her wrist kept beeping and alerting her that her time under the radiation was running out...
Lost
The radioactive winds were a constant evil, the girl was determined to look for the existence of some animal, and her father, although he knew the danger, accepted that situation to give her some happiness, he placed a sensor to alert her in case of trouble.
She ran with all her strength to reach the place where she had seen some traces of vegetation.
The girl was screaming for an answer, she ran to gain distance, her lungs seemed to be on fire with agitation. Her father had sent her out in the morning before the winds started, she managed to reach a building and she could already feel the wind whistling, raising a great cloud of dust that was covering everything, now she had to run back, but the path had been erased, going back was like going to an unknown destination, she didn't know where she had to go back.
She hid behind a rock when a figure stood in front of her blocking her way home. It had been a long time since she had seen anyone who wasn't on the television or computer screen. She shielded her eyes from looking directly at it, instead, she looked from side to side for an escape route, but there was none, apart from a few meters of space between the metal buildings, each of which emitted a blinding light from their windows, her father hadn't warned her about this, now she didn't know where to run and this being was blocking her only way.
A telepathic voice came to her: "Humanity has not become extinct as you think, I am part of those beings who were able to survive, we have developed telepathy as a form of communication, what are you doing here? How come, you are not protected or you are not human?
—Who are you? —shouted the girl, "I need to go back, a cloud of dust made me lose my way.
"Most of us died burned by the radiation, we are few, and we found a crashed ship that served us as protection, we believe that this ship belonged to beings from another planet who did not survive the impact with the earth, they had these protective suits, we took them to protect us, but now we live trapped inside".
—Help me get to the caves! You can see this sensor, it indicates that my time is running out and I lost my way through the dust cloud, help me!
She looked with anguish at that inert figure, she didn't know if he was looking at her, the sensor began to beep faster, that indicated the proximity of radioactive rain, she felt lost, then he lowered his head, moved his arms towards her and like hooks they held her, the girl closed her eyes and felt the hot breeze, she didn't want to open them, she thought of her father, waiting for her, hiding in the dark, tragic, perhaps with asphyxia attacks due to nerves, when he doesn't know what to do. She couldn't stop thinking, it was a way of escaping the fear, knowing that this hot powder was on her, it was the end, as the long beep, almost without pause, emitting the danger, let her know.
She was absorbed when she heard her father's voice, her crying embraced her, she opened her eyes and saw the long, tall shadow looking at her in the distance and a voice echoing in her mind "I will survive, I will survive, I hope to see you again, we are not the only ones".
Her father pulled her into the darkness as the beam of light hit the darkness.
