My attempt to create a double smashed cheeseburger was a direct hit in the bulls eye. Well if I may believe the comments from my guest for which I served this burger.
It was actually really easy to do but it takes a lot of bbq finesse and experience. Well that is just for fun. What you really need is a good sense of timing and some patience.
I made this one of course on my Big Green Egg. Over direct flames for about 3 minutes on each side. Just a matter of preparing meatballs, put them on the grill and smash them as flat as possible. That will make the outside really crunchy. Then place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of half the burgers, close the lid, open when the cheese is melted and place a burger patty right on top of the cheese and let it there for a minute more.
Done!
Now grab some bread, put some of your favorite sauce on it, then the burger, tomato, salad and that鈥檚 it.
The crunchyness is so darn good you can鈥檛 believe this can be made at home. Just put some effort in it and you鈥檒l be amazed by the results you can achieve!
