See Food Rice is one of those dishes that I love and that I used to prepare infrequently because my kids didn't enjoy it very much, since they are not seafood lovers. Luckily, I think that with a few modifications I have hit the mark and their opinion may have changed!

Happy day #foddiesbehive friends I hope you have a great weekend! Today I want to share with you a delicious arroz a la marinera, very much my style by the way. I'm trying to find a twist and adjust it to the taste of my children that although they eat it every time I prepare it, they make it very clear to me that it is not one of their favorite dishes.

So thinking of them I have looked for a way to remove some things and add others that they might like more and finally this time they were happy with the result, so now we can prepare this recipe with a little more regularity.

See Food Rice is quite similar to paella, but I must say that the latter is my favorite. Unfortunately what sets it apart from arroz a la marinera is just what my kids don't enjoy so much, like the crenellations and the whole crab, which for me is the best part!

But since food is to be enjoyed, if modifications need to be made to make everyone happy then they need to be made!

So with that in mind I thought I could still enjoy in a way a good seafood dish even if it doesn't contain all the ingredients I love and the truth is that the result was super tasty and both adults and children enjoyed a simply delicious seafood rice!

And what were the changes I made? Well, crabs out (very sad) and no seafood inside their shells because sometimes there is sand left over and that is one of the things my kids don't like.

So I decided to use precooked products and out of their shells to reduce the presence of sand as much as possible, which was an excellent decision, because we really didn't feel any sand and the kids were fascinated.

And now I leave you with the ingredients for this arroz a la marinera, which yields four servings.

2 cups of rice
600grs of assorted seafood
2 red bell peppers
1 large onion
3 garlic cloves
4 chilies
1 sprig of onion
Onoto
Oil (amount needed to fry the vegetables)
Salt and pepper to taste

img_0.6558923568086962.jpg

The first step is to cook the seafood in 5 cups of water with just a touch of salt until soft.

In my case, although they were already pre-cooked, I did it the same way to take advantage of the broth and use it to cook the rice.

Once the seafood is ready, finely chop the vegetables and fry them in two tablespoons of oil and the onoto.

When the onion crystallizes add two more tablespoons of oil and the rice.

img_0.8990191229152972.jpg

Mix very well and cook while stirring for about three minutes. This helps me to make my rice as loose as I like it.

img_0.8990191229152972.jpg

Finally we add 4 and 1/2 cups of the broth where we cooked the seafood and let it cook at minimum heat.

After 8 minutes we check the salt, add the pepper and garnish with paprika strips. Cover and let it cook without stirring until the rice is cooked.

img_0.8990191229152972.jpg

Turn off, remove from the heat and you will have a delicious arroz a la marinera ready to enjoy!

My kids loved it! In fact I didn't serve them a large amount because of previous experiences, but they ended up asking for more so I accomplished my goal, which made me super happy because it is a dish that I really enjoy and I had been trying to find a solution for a long time so that everyone at home could enjoy it.

I hope you liked the recipe and that you are encouraged to try it at home. Kisses and blessings guys!

Besitos y bendiciones chicos!
