There are moments in life that deserve to be lived to the fullest, even when our body physically asks for rest and time passes so quickly that I better live before they tell me!
Hello friends of #familyandfriends, once again in these parts to share a special moment with my family and other very dear people with whom we enjoyed a Saturday full of new experiences and that the flu could not stop!!!!
And the fact is that since Saturday of last week at home one by one we were attacked with a strong virus where we were battling with temperatures of 40 °, lots of coughing and general malaise. The good thing is that it only lasted two days, the bad thing is that it happened in a very busy week.
On Monday Miranda started a Ballet Workshop that would last three days with a teacher brought from Caracas by her academy, the Pro Dance Ballet School. The thing is that she missed Monday due to the virus, but by Tuesday she was able to join the workshop.
On Tuesday, as my husband was already better, he was in charge of taking her, since I was taking care of her brother who was on his second day of the virus.
On Wednesday we had all planned to go with her for the closing of her workshop and share a lunch together when she left, but she just started my first day of the virus.
In spite of that I decided to continue with my plan even though I felt terrible and I don't regret it at all because in Miranda's life those are unique moments and being with her for me is a priority, so we spent a very special morning the four of us and the nicest thing was that Miranda felt supported and accompanied by her family.
As I told you, this week was quite busy and on Saturday Matias had a chess tournament that had two functions; the tournament itself and sharing with the chess family of our state, so it was an excellent opportunity.
Apart from that (which was already enough reason to not want to miss it), this tournament would be the first of the son of a great friend who shares chess classes with Matias, so we could share a good time the two families and catch up because Claudimar was on vacation.
Another thing that made me happy was that at last an event would take place in my town, in fact very close to my home and in a place I did not know. The inn "La Lora" and specifically we would be in the restaurant "El Caney de Nicolasa" so there would be food hahaha. We were passed on the menu to the chess group and of course I had another reason to go!!!
But as there is never a but to everyone at home the virus lasted only two days and of course I was the exception! Murphy's Law has always been my faithful companion, so by Friday I was still feeling terrible and if that wasn't enough, my friend Claudimar wrote me that day at night to tell me that she and Cesar (her son) were also sick, so we were between going or not going.
Finally mom's love was stronger and on Saturday, despite not being completely well, we decided to accompany our children and put all our energy into the activity and I must say that I don't regret it. We had a great day despite the discomfort.
Starting with the place, which is located between two hills and surrounded by many huge trees that kept us protected from the sun and super cool during the whole activity. It had a park for the kids and a huge space to run and play at their leisure.
The place was full of kids everywhere and the families of the participants. So everything looked great!
When we arrived the tables were already set up for the kids but the best thing was to see the oven for the pizza and the firewood for the beef soup smoking haha.
For those who don't know, chess tournaments go on forever hahaha. Seriously they seem to go on forever! They are super long and this time they were playing a tournament of 9 rounds (which luckily went down to 7) at 10 minutes each with an added 5 seconds per move, so of course it extends well beyond 10 minutes and with our experience in other tournaments we knew it would end around 5pm.
As you can see it is quite a long time, but the place, the atmosphere and the company made us feel that time flew.
Claudimar besides bringing Cesar, who would participate in the tournament also brought Arturo, his older brother, who is one of Matias' best friends so there was no way not to have a good time.
Between each round played there was a break time that although it was short the kids took advantage of it to go up to the park, play soccer or just run around while Claudi and I caught up.
Miranda found some friends to play with and we also took advantage of the time to catch up on some of her homework (not much really haha), so everyone was enjoying the activity in their own way.
I must say that a chess tournament is not fun at all haha, in fact we can not get close to see because it is a sport of great concentration, even there was no music in the place but still for them to be there for so many hours playing something they are passionate about is the best!
For me the best moment you know what it was!
Yessssss! The time for lunch hahaha and although I had gone with the intention of eating wood-fired soup when I saw that the pizza was in a wood-fired oven I could not resist and we went for that option although the vast majority ordered the beef soup which by the way was at a super price of 2$ and it was a good amount.
Claudimar decided to go for the beef soup but I had been dying for a wood-fired pizza for a while.
After lunch there was a break which the kids of course took advantage of and after some time to relax they continued with the remaining rounds. Our children, for the short time they have been practicing this discipline, did quite well, especially because as it was an open tournament they were not organized by categories, it was an all against all, so they played with much older and more experienced kids. Matias won 2 rounds and Cesar won 1.
For César it was his first tournament and for Matías his third, so they are doing quite well, it is a discipline to which you have to dedicate a lot of time and that requires constant practice and strategy. Matias sees at least 4 hours a week of chess classes for his preparation and although the ideal would be more time we do not have enough time for more hours of activities hahaha.
Finally around 4pm they finished the last round and while they were counting the points the mothers organized a game of bolas criollas in which neither Claudimar nor I participated because of the flu that did not allow us to play, but for another opportunity for sure we will!
I came home more dead than alive but happy to have accompanied Matias in this activity and to have shared this super special time with my new chess family, with my family and of course with Claudimar and his children and despite the sickness we managed to spend a fabulous day.
And of course we are already planning another visit, this time flu free!
Thank you for joining me with your reading. Kisses and blessings!
