Yessi y yo somos amigas desde que tengo uso de razón jajaja, nos conocimos en la escuela en segundo grado y aunque siempre fuimos amigas no fue hasta nuestra madurez que nos volvimos inseparables. Con caminos tan distintos que ha tomado cada una seguimos en contacto y estamos al pendiente de la otra. Cuando tenemos la oportunidad de vernos, lo hacemos y cuando no la tenemos pues, la creamos jajaj.
Hace poco nos vimos, aprovechando que ella está de vacaciones de la universidad, ambas somos del mismo pueblito así que se nos hizo relativamente fácil pautar una hora y vernos. No actualizamos desde el momento que nos saludos por más que estemos en contacto siempre hay cosas que son mejores de conversar en persona jeje, muy del chisme, muy de la tragedia, muy del “quienes somos nosotras para juzgar” y reinos al punto de hacer un escandalo que la gente nos ve feo por el alboroto.

Yessi and I have been friends for as long as I can remember, hahaha. We met in second grade, and even though we were always friends, it wasn’t until we got older that we became inseparable. Even though we’ve each taken such different paths in life, we still keep in touch and look out for each other. When we have the chance to see each other, we do, and when we don’t, well, we make it happen, hahaha.
We saw each other recently, taking advantage of the fact that she’s on break from college. We’re both from the same little town, so it was relatively easy for us to set a time and meet up. We hadn’t caught up since the moment we said hello—even though we’re always in touch, there are always things that are better to talk about in person, hehe: lots of gossip, lots of drama, lots of “who are we to judge,” and even going so far as to make such a scene that people give us dirty looks for all the commotion.
Nuestro objetivo principal para charlar fue una cafetería/dulcería/pizzería y más… que hay en el pueblo con una vibra muy rosa y femenina. Se llama “Agapé Waffle” pero, venden de todo un poco, tanto así que nos quedamos viendo el menú un buen rato para elegir que pedir, yo lo vi más de lo usual por el diseño, y obviamente le comenté a mi amiga todo los aciertos y errores que tenía el menú (soy diseñador gráfico, hacer eso ya es costumbre jeje). Luego de darle una mini clase de retículas y reglas llegaron nuestros cafés y comenzaron las historias fuertes, las pesadas y llenas de emociones que solo hablas con tus amigos más cercanos.
Siendo nosotras unas adultas chiquitas terminamos reflexionando sobre cada una de nuestras anécdotas, como yo siempre he sido de la introspección y aprender sobre el autocuidado y demás terminamos en una conversación muy profunda y sanadora para ambas, al punto que nuestro mejor tema fue nuestra relación con Dios y como Yessica siendo católica y practicante de dicha religión esa conexión con Dios y siendo yo una persona curiosa terminé preguntando cosas respecto a dichas practicas y como era mi propia relación con Dios. Les puedo decir que la conversación fue tan profunda e intima que terminamos cansadas mentalmente, pero, estábamos agradecidas por haber hablado del tema y haber encontrado similitudes en nuestras relaciones con él. Cada vez que me reúno con mi amiga terminamos en conversaciones muy bonitas y placenteras, pero esta abrió un nuevo espacio en nuestra relación de tantos años.
Our main goal for this chat was a café/pastry shop/pizzeria—and more—in town with a very pink and feminine vibe. It’s called “Agapé Waffle” but they sell a little bit of everything—so much so that we spent quite a while looking at the menu to decide what to order. I spent more time than usual looking at it because of the design, and of course I pointed out to my friend all the pros and cons of the menu (I’m a graphic designer—doing that is just second nature to me, haha). After giving her a mini-lesson on grids and design rules, our coffees arrived, and the deep, heavy, and emotionally charged stories began—the kind you only share with your closest friends.
Since we’re “little adults,” we ended up reflecting on each of our stories. Since I’ve always been into introspection and learning about self-care and such, we ended up in a very deep and healing conversation for both of us, to the point that our main topic was our relationship with God. Since Yessica is Catholic and a practicing believer, she spoke about her connection with God, and since I’m a curious person, I ended up asking questions about those practices and what my own relationship with God was like. I can tell you that the conversation was so deep and intimate that we ended up mentally exhausted, but we were grateful to have talked about the subject and found similarities in our relationships with Him. Every time I meet up with my friend, we end up having really nice, enjoyable conversations, but this one opened up a new chapter in our long-standing friendship.
No importa cuanto tiempo tenga sin ver a Yessica, nuestra conexión es buena o hasta mejor con cada reunión, por eso quise presumirle a mi amiga hermosa con estas fotos, también de nuestros cafés y de los tequeños que apenas se ven, pues, llegaron y no duraron mucho en la mesa jajajaj. Agradezco mucho mi amistad y así como yo tengo a alguien tan bonita persona en mi vida, espero que ustedes también la tengan.
