Happy day #homesolutions friends and happy start of the week to all! Today is Decorating Monday in the community, "Make your home look great " Monday and I wanted to debut in this segment with one of the areas of my house that I have decorated with more illusion, and it is my children's room.
Today Matias and Miranda are 13 and 10 years old respectively and have been sharing a room since Miranda's first year of age, who by then was already walking (since she was 10 months old) and was quite independent, so having the room ready for both of them, we did not hesitate to change it.
Being a room shared between male and female has undergone some changes over time, because at first and for two years it was a room purely for a boy, so the walls were covered with different shades of blue and white furniture that created the serene atmosphere that is recommended for a baby's room.
A room with the basics because they don't recommend much furniture to avoid dust accumulation, so we got a crib bed with a dresser and changing table, a chest of drawers with plenty of storage space, a rocking chair and the baby's bathtub.
The touch of color was given by some toys whose purpose was not only to decorate but also to stimulate Matías, and for that we chose quite bright colors. At that time the Fisher Price brand had a whole collection called, "play, laugh and learn " in shades of red, blue and yellow that we thought was perfect.
And although I could say that it was a dream room, here are some aspects that I should have taken into account at the time.
We are so excited about the arrival of the new member of the family that we end up making purchases and changes that are mostly unnecessary, because the baby will spend more time in the parents' room than in theirs, and when we realize, that beautiful little baby room was never used and it is time to redecorate because it is no longer a baby when he finally makes use of his room.
The light colors with which we dress the walls do not work for our little one because he needs different stimuli that he only receives through a wider range of colors.
In my case the decoration went from sky blue to apple green and a jungle animal theme. By this time Miranda was on her way so deciding on something that would work for both of us wasn't easy, but I think we hit the nail on the head with the theme...for a while, and that brings us to the second recommendation.
Of course we all want the baby's room to be beautiful, but beyond that we must think about the usefulness and practicality of everything, because as I mentioned in the previous point is a room that being babies do not use it, nor enjoy it, it is rather for us, so my recommendation would be to choose colors and themes that can grow with our child, until their own tastes are imposed.
In my case, that was my second mistake because as I told you we decorated with the jungle animals theme and of course at 9 years old it is not so much fun to have a little boy's room, so we had to make a new change that remains until now but that will not be definitive because we use the theme of the video game Mario Bross, and with two teenagers we will change it again very soon.
So we would be talking about a fourth remodeling, which surely we would have saved by giving those special touches with decorative accessories without compromising the walls for example, and use for them a tone that would keep sense through time.
In terms of furniture we only made two changes so far, as we went from the crib bed to a complete bedroom set for both of them, even though Miranda was still in the oven we decided to take advantage of the prices and make a single purchase.
This time we were a little more conscious, so I can say that we learned from our mistakes, because we decided for modular room sets in a very simple design and that they will be able to continue using for much longer, but now we have to change one of the two of the room because they need their space, so we are not finished yet!

La habitación del bebé es una de las cosas que más genera ilusión en los nuevos padres. Desde el color de las paredes hasta los pequeños detalles de decoración son escogidos con mucho amor.
Feliz día amigos de #homesolutions y feliz inicio de semana para todos! Hoy es lunes de decoración en la comunidad, lunes de "Haz lucir tu hogar" y quise estrenarme en este segmento con una de las áreas de mi casa que he decorado con más ilusión, y se trata de la habitación de mis niños.
Hoy día Matías y Miranda tienen 13 y 10 años respectivamente y comparten habitación desde aproximadamente el primer añito de edad de Miranda, quien para ese entonces ya caminaba (desde los 10 meses) y era bastante independiente, por lo que al tener la habitación acondicionada para ambos, no dudamos en cambiarla.
Al ser una habitación compartida entre hembra y varón ha sufrido ciertos cambios a través del tiempo, pues en principio y por dos años fue una habitación netamente para un niño, por lo que sus paredes estaban cubiertas con diferentes tonos de azul y mobiliario completamente blanco que crearon el ambiente sereno que recomiendan para la habitación del bebé.
Una habitación con lo básico pues no se recomienda mucho mobiliario para evitar la acumulación de polvo, así que nos hicimos de una cama cuna con gavetero y cambiador incorporado, una cómoda con bastante espacio de almacenamiento, una mecedora y la bañera del bebé.
El toque de color lo daban algunos juguetes que tenían como finalidad no sólo decorar sino estimular a Matías y para eso sí escogimos colores bastante llamativos. En ése entonces la marca Fisher Price tenía toda una colección llamada, "juega, ríe y aprende" en tonos rojos, azules y amarillos que nos pareció perfecto.
Y aunque pudiera decir que era una habitación de ensueño, aquí vienen algunos aspectos que debí tomar en cuenta en su momento.
Estamos tan emocionados por la llegada del nuevo miembro de la familia que terminamos haciendo compras y cambios que en su mayoría son innecesarios, pues el bebé pasará más tiempo en la habitación de los padres que en la suya, y cuando nos demos cuenta, esa habitación hermosa de bebé pequeño, no se usó jamás y toca redecorar porque ya no es un bebé cuando por fin hace uso de su habitación.
Ya los colores claros con los que vestimos las paredes no funcionan para nuestro peque pues necesita estímulos diferentes que sólo recibe a través de una gama más amplia de colores.
En mi caso la decoración pasó de un azul cielo a verde manzana y una temática de animalitos de la selva. Para ese momento Miranda ya estaba en camino por lo que decidir algo que sirviera para los dos no fue fácil, pero creo que dimos en el clavo con la temática... por un tiempo, y eso nos lleva a la segunda recomendación.
Por supuesto todos queremos que la habitación del bebé sea hermosa, pero más allá de eso debemos pensar en la utilidad y la practicidad de todo, pues como les comentaba en el punto anterior es una habitación que siendo bebés no la usan, ni la disfrutan, es más bien para nosotros, por lo que mi recomendación sería escoger colores y temáticas que puedan crecer con nuestro hijo, hasta que sus propios gustos se impongan.
En mi caso, ese fué mi segundo error pues como les dije decoramos con la temática animalitos de la selva y por supuesto a los 9 años ya no es tan divertido tener una habitación de niño pequeño, por lo que tuvimos que hacer un nuevo cambio que se mantiene hasta ahora pero que tampoco será definitivo pues usamos la temática del video juego Mario Bross, y con dos adolescentes seguro muy pronto toca cambiarlo otra vez.
Así que estaríamos hablando de una cuarta remodelacion, que seguramente nos hubiésemos ahorrado al darle esos toques especiales con accesorios decorativos sin comprometer las paredes por ejemplo, y utilizar para las mismas un tono que mantuviese sentido a través del tiempo.
En cuanto al mobiliario sólo hicimos dos cambios hasta ahora, pues pasamos de la cama cuna a un juego de habitación completo para ambos, aun cuando Miranda se encontraba todavía en el horno decidimos aprovechar los precios y hacer una sola compra.
En esta ocasión fuimos un poco más conscientes, así que puedo decir que aprendimos de nuestros errores, pues nos decidimos por juegos de cuarto modulares en un diseño bastante sencillo y que perfectamente podrán seguir usando por mucho más tiempo, pero ahora nos corresponde cambiar a uno de los dos de habitación pues necesitan su espacio así que aún ¡no terminamos!.
