Hello chicos, qué tal todo? Casi casi fin de semana, porque siiiii, mis chicos tienen libres los viernes (de momento) así que puedo decir "feliz fin de semana largo!!". Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un nuevo proyecto que tenemos por delante en casita, y es que como saben, al mudarse mi mamá a planta baja todo el piso de arriba nos ha quedado libre, por lo que estamos reorganizando todo nuestro espacio, y terminada la habitación de Miranda y encaminada la de Matías comencé a organizarme con un nuevo proyecto.
Hey guys, how’s it going? It’s almost the weekend—because yessss, my kids have Fridays off (for now), so I can say “Have a great long weekend!!”. Today I want to share with you a new project we have coming up at home. As you know, since my mom moved downstairs, the entire upper floor is now empty, so we’re reorganizing our whole space. Now that Miranda’s room is finished and Matías’s is well on its way, I’ve started planning a new project.
Se trata de ir trabajando en lo que actualmente es nuestra sala/comedor, un espacio bastante pequeño, que por muchos años nos funcionó bastante bien al estar pequeños nuestros niños, pero ya tenemos dos adolescentes tamaño adulto y todo se siente más apretado, y es que esta sala comedor era anteriormente el balcón de nuestra casa y mide escasamente dos metros de ancho, y la verdad ya se siente muy pequeño, así que hemos decidido mover nuestra habitación (la más grande de este piso) a la que era la de mi madre y tomar ese espacio para la sala comedor, por lo que nos queda libre esta zona del antiguo balcón que podemos aprovechar para crear otros espacios.
Uno de ellos sería un desayunador/zona de café y sería en el espacio que está justo a la salida de nuestra cocina (donde ahora está el sofá) y ahí lo que nos gustaría hacer es instalar una barra alta y delgada, o en su defecto baja, también delgada con bancos que podamos ocultar debajo para no saturar el espacio y que nos sirva como desayunador y para tomar cafecito.
Por supuesto, para visualizar el espacio le pedí ayuda a la IA y luego de muchos intentos y miles de discusiones ella hizo exactamente lo que le pedí, y la verdad es que luce sumamente lindo ese espacio y gracias a Dios contamos con material suficiente para el proyecto.
The idea is to start working on what is currently our living/dining room—a fairly small space that worked quite well for us for many years when our children were little, but now that we have two teenagers who are as tall as adults, everything feels cramped, The thing is, this living-dining room used to be the balcony of our house and is barely two meters wide, and honestly, it already feels very small. So we’ve decided to move our bedroom (the largest one on this floor) into what used to be my mother’s room and use that space for the living-dining room, which will free up this area of the old balcony that we can use to create other spaces.
One of them would be a breakfast nook/coffee area, located in the space right outside our kitchen (where the sofa is now). There, we’d like to install a tall, slim counter—or, if not, a short, slim one—with stools that we can tuck underneath so as not to clutter the space, and that will serve as a breakfast nook and a spot to enjoy a cup of coffee.
Of course, to visualize the space, I asked the AI for help, and after many attempts and thousands of discussions, she did exactly what I asked. And honestly, that space looks absolutely lovely, and thank goodness we have enough materials for the project.
Por otro lado, en el otro extremo (actualmente el comedor), queremos armar un área de lectura, que básicamente será una zona de descanso en la que ya comencé a trabajar, y lo que hice fue tomar el mueble de repisas del juego de cuarto de mi hija y moverlo a ese espacio. Junto a él coloqué uno de mis muebles intervenidos (mi repisa preciosa), y la verdad es que solo ubicarlo ahí le dio una vista diferente a la zona a pesar de no combinar para nada ya que sus puertas son fucsia, pero sin dudas cuando sea intervenido quedará genial.
La idea es aprovechar este mueble para adosarle un banco con almacenamiento en forma de L que no solo nos dará unos asientos extras y una zona linda, sino un lugar para guardar un montón de cosas que teníamos en la habitación que ahora ocupa Miranda. Y por supuesto, para esta zona también le pedí ayuda a la IA y me encantó el resultado.
On the other hand, at the far end (currently the dining room), we want to set up a reading area—which will basically be a relaxation zone—and I’ve already started working on it. What I did was take the shelving unit from my daughter’s bedroom set and move it to that space. Next to it, I placed one of my upcycled pieces (my beautiful shelf), and honestly, just putting it there gave the area a whole new look—even though it doesn’t match at all since its doors are fuchsia—but it will definitely look great once it’s been upcycled.
The idea is to use this piece of furniture to attach an L-shaped bench with storage to it—one that will not only give us some extra seating and a nice little nook, but also a place to store a bunch of things we had in the room that Miranda now occupies. And of course, I also asked the AI for help with this area, and I loved the result.
Pero si me conocen un poco, saben que soy bastante quisquillosa, por lo que le pedí a la IA que uniera los dos espacios y aunque se veía precioso hay un detalle que siempre nos ha molestado, y son las rejas negras de las ventanas. Recordemos que antes esa zona era un balcón, y por supuesto la protección era necesaria, pero cuando cerramos el balcón nos pareció que lucían terribles, pero la IA me dio una solución fantástica! Plantas!!!
Lo mejor de esta idea es que no solo se ven espectaculares, sino que es perfectamente viable ya que las plantas estarían justo frente a los ventanales así que recibirían una buena dosis de sol, lo que garantizaría su salud, así que todo perfecto por ese lado.
Como ven, últimamente la IA es mi súper aliada y la compañera perfecta para todas las locuras que se me ocurren en casa, tanto para decorar como para cocinar!
But if you know me even a little, you know I’m pretty picky, so I asked the AI to connect the two spaces, and even though it looked beautiful, there’s one detail that’s always bothered us: the black window bars. Remember that this area used to be a balcony, and of course, the bars were necessary for safety, but when we enclosed the balcony, we thought they looked terrible—until the AI came up with a fantastic solution! Plants!!!
The best part about this idea is that not only do they look spectacular, but it’s also perfectly feasible since the plants would be right in front of the windows, so they’d get plenty of sun, which would keep them healthy—so everything’s perfect on that front.
As you can see, AI has been my super ally lately and the perfect partner for all the crazy ideas I come up with at home, whether it’s decorating or cooking!
De momento, vamos paso a paso. Lo primero que haré será intervenir el mueble, y posiblemente para el fin de semana lo tenga listo y después de ahí iremos un poco más lento, porque aunque mover las cosas de nuestra habitación a la de mi madre pudiera parecer sencillo esa habitación esta full de cosas que debemos reubicar y si lo hacemos justo ahora tendría que ser en nuestra habitación y eso nos dejaría sin espacio para la sala comedor, así que nos toca ir un pasito a la vez. Ya les iremos contando!
For now, we're taking it one step at a time. The first thing I’ll do is refinish the piece of furniture, and I’ll probably have it ready by the weekend. After that, we’ll take it a little slower, because even though moving things from our room to my mom’s might seem simple, that room is packed with stuff we need to relocate. If we did it right now, we’d have to put everything in our room, and that would leave us with no space for the dining room, so we’ll have to take it one step at a time. We’ll keep you posted!
