Hello, wonderful people of Hive! I hope you’re all doing great! Here at home, the work never stops—we’re simultaneously remodeling different spaces to make as much progress as possible on the changes we want to make. And while one space waits for certain materials to arrive, we can keep moving forward with others. That way, we don’t feel like we’re at a standstill; instead, change is happening every day, and that motivates us to keep going with enthusiasm.

For those of you reading this for the first time, we’re making small changes to different rooms in our house, and the ones that are finished so far are my daughter Miranda’s bedroom and the kitchen—which, although it still needs a few finishing touches, is mostly done, and the change is noticeable, which is what matters most.

On another note, we still need to move our bedroom (my husband’s and mine) into the room my mother vacated when she moved downstairs, and turn our current bedroom into a dining room. In the space where our dining room used to be, we want to set up a breakfast nook and a reading room.

Aside from all this, we’re also working on our son Matías’s room, but that project is practically finished—we just need to paint the walls, attach some leg supports to the new desk/study area, and change the colors of his closet doors. We plan to do that last part with adhesive vinyl, which will make the job go much faster.

For now, our main concern was where to store everything we had in my mom’s room: our kids’ twin beds, plus a dresser, a nightstand, and other wooden parts from two computer desks we took apart a while back. We also have the boxes from the air conditioners we bought recently, which we can’t throw away until the warranty period ends.

As you can see, there were a lot of things we had to remove from the room and store in a place where they wouldn’t get damaged, since we’re talking about melamine—a material that shouldn’t be exposed to moisture— so, looking for a practical solution, we decided that we could store all these items in the bathroom that’s part of what used to be my mother’s bedroom. But of course, we had to take apart the beds, the furniture, and everything else in the room so we could finally move it all into the bathroom—specifically, into the shower area.

Luckily, the bathroom is quite large, and we’ve already managed to move all the melamine furniture we had in the room there. Best of all, since it has a sliding door, you can’t see a thing inside the shower, so we could use the bathroom as usual—though we won’t be doing that for now, since we also want to remodel it.

Moving everything has been quite a challenge because my husband is still dealing with his parents’ health issues, so I’ve had to take on a lot of this work myself. But now all that’s left is to give away the mattresses and finish taking out the trash bags and other small items we need to give away to clear out the room—though we still haven’t moved yet. We still need to repair some areas of the wall and paint so we can finally bring our things in, but we hope that will happen soon.
