We moved into the new room [Eng/Esp]

Hello, friends at Hive and @home.solutions. I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to give you an update on how the changes in the house are going. For now, I’ll tell you that we’ve already moved our things from our old bedroom to my mother-in-law’s old room—as I mentioned before, she moved to the ground floor of the house. So, my wife wanted to move our things into my mother-in-law’s room and turn our old bedroom into a dining room, since the one we have now is too small.

Hola amigos de Hive y @home.solutions, espero que todos se encuentren bien. Por aquí, quise ponerlos al día de cómo van los cambios en la casa. Por ahora les voy a contar que ya pudimos pasar nuestras cosas de nuestro antiguo cuarto al cuarto que era de la suegra, que ya les había dicho antes que se cambió para la planta baja de la casa, entonces lo que quería mi esposa era mover las cosas para el cuarto de la suegra y donde estaba nuestro cuarto, poner la sala comedor porque donde la tenemos es muy pequeño.

Since my mother-in-law’s room had been empty for almost a year, we gradually filled it up with all sorts of things. We had the kids’ bedroom sets in there—they weren’t using them anymore—and a few closets were still assembled, but the beds and other items had been taken apart, and all that stuff was crammed into that room, along with things that were in the room where Miranda is staying right now. So that room was basically a storage area, and we had to clear it all out so we could move in.

My wife did almost all of that work with the kids’ help because I’m short on time due to my responsibilities with my parents and work, but I helped with the bigger items, and after a few weeks, we were able to clear out the entire room to start rearranging things. And we did that over the weekend.

Ese cuarto de la suegra como estaba desocupado hace casi un año, lo fuimos llenando de muchas cosas, ahí teníamos los juegos de cuarto de los muchachos porque ya no lo están usando, nada más, unos closets quedaron armados, pero se desarmaron las camas y otras cosas y toda esa manera estaba metida en ese cuarto, además de cosas que estaban en el cuarto donde está Miranda ahorita. Entonces eso prácticamente ese cuarto era un depósito, y había que sacar todo eso para poder mudarnos.

Ese trabajo casi todo lo hizo mi esposa con ayuda de los muchachos porque estoy corto de tiempo por las responsabilidades con mis padres y el trabajo, pero ayudé con las cosas más grandes y, después de unas semanas, pudimos desocupar todo el cuarto para comenzar a cambiar las cosas. Y eso lo hicimos el fin de semana.

This room is practically the same size as the one we were in before—it’s just a little bigger, maybe about 50 centimeters larger—so we had no trouble moving the furniture in. The thing is, since that room has a bathroom, there’s a door in the middle of one wall, and that limits our space. So we had to arrange some things differently than we had in our old room, and because of the room’s layout, we couldn’t bring the entertainment unit.

We also had to leave a closet that my mother-in-law had, because it’s built-in and we didn’t want to go to the trouble of removing it—and since it was the same size as ours, we left it. The only thing is that the colors of all the furniture are different, but Rosa will take care of all that later.

Este cuarto es prácticamente del mismo tamaño del cuarto donde estábamos antes, es un poquito más grande, si acaso unos 50 centímetros más, así que no había problema de pasar los muebles, la cosa es que, como ese cuarto tiene un baño, hay una puerta en el medio en una pared y eso nos limita el espacio. Entonces hubo que meter unas cosas de forma diferente a como las teníamos en el cuarto nuestro y por la forma de la habitación no pudimos traer el mueble de entretenimiento.

También tuvimos que dejar un armario que tenía la suegra, porque está empotrado y no quisimos ponernos en el trabajo de sacarlo y como era del mismo tamaño del de nosotros, lo dejamos. Lo único es que los colores de todos los muebles son diferentes, pero, más adelante, Rosa se va a encargar de todo eso.

That same day we organized the closet, moved our clothes and all our stuff, and put the sofa in the other room, but that’s a bit of a mess because we don’t know where to put our dresser. I say we should leave it there, but my wife doesn’t want to because she says it’ll look like a bedroom—but we’ll figure out what to do as we go along.

Right now, at least, since the TV stand is there and the sofa is there too, we’re all spending more time in the living-dining room area and less time in the bedrooms—which is exactly what we wanted.

Ese mismo día arreglamos el closet, pasamos la ropa y todas nuestras cosas y metimos en el otro cuarto el sofá, pero eso está crudito porque no sabemos donde meter el armario de nosotros. Yo digo que lo dejemos ahí pero mi esposa no quiere porque dice que va a parecer un cuarto, pero ya iremos viendo qué es lo que vamos a hacer.

Ahorita por lo menos como el mueble del televisor quedó ahí y el sofá también está ahí, todos estamos pasando más tiempo en el proyecto de sala comedor y menos tiempo en los cuartos que era lo que queríamos.
