I decided to try The Sinking City 2, which is a Lovecraftian survival horror game set in 1920s Arkham. Having skipped the first installment because of its outdated graphics, I jumped straight into this sequel hoping for a better experience.
The game opened with a cinematic set in a busy, restaurant-like room where music was playing. A lady was smoking when a man named Kelvin approached her, handed her a book, and kissed her.
Suddenly, armed men arrived looking for Kelvin. The atmospheric scene shifted into a nightmare as everyone turned into ghost-like figures, and Kelvin was pulled away by shadowy, zombie-like creatures while watching his girlfriend, Faye, fade into the distance.
Kelvin then woke up in his apartment, revealing that the whole ordeal had been a bad dream. Faye was lying motionless on the bed next to him, wearing a mask and appearing to be in a state of coma.
I watched as Kelvin tended to Faye, removing her eye mask and nightshade while wishing her a good morning. He admitted that he had dreamt about her, but she remained completely unresponsive.
To help her, I commanded Kelvin to wash her face and administer her daily care. Kelvin spoke gently to Faye, telling her that he had finally found the missing piece of the puzzle to save her.
He explained that he needed a book called Recitations of the Tenebrous Soul from the university library. The book contained a ritual named "The Call," which could potentially reunite a lost spirit with its body using a specific dagger.
As he fed her a tonic and applied her eye drops, Kelvin urged Faye to hold on just a little longer. He believed her soul was still nearby and promised that he would bring her back.
Before heading out of the apartment, Kelvin said his goodbyes and gave his handgun a quick check. He assured Faye that he would be careful on his journey, and then left the room to search for the book.
That's all for this session. More moments coming soon and thanks for checking it out.
