I wanted to know the origin story of Kyle Crane, so I decided to play the first Dying Light game on story mode difficulty. The story was set in the city of Harran, where my main goal was to locate Suleiman and intercept a critical file during the first mission.
When I woke up inside a room, a young boy and girl were talking nearby. They seemed scared of me and even called me a zombie before they ran away into the hallway.
Looking through the windows, I saw how ruined the outside world appeared. The post-apocalyptic environment looked impressive for an older game.
I stepped out of the room and walked down the hall of what appeared to be a large safe shelter. A guard near the corridor mentioned that I had been sleeping for three straight days like a dead man, which explained why the kids were frightened earlier. He then instructed me to head straight to room 190, explaining that the person in charge wanted to brief me.
Along the way, a woman named Salma mentioned that 31 was my assigned number in the building.
I made my way to room 190, which served as the main headquarters. A guard named Zere stood near the entrance and allowed me to enter the large apartment.
I walked toward the balcony and met Rahim, who was looking outside through a pair of binoculars. He seemed quite young to be running the place. He asked if Crane remembered anything, and Crane said he only remembers being in a shelter.
Rahim explained that their group survived by scavenging air drops and helping survivors. He handed back my broken radio, which he had strapped up, and told me to make myself useful since they don't not keep freeloaders around.
He then assigned me to check on a lost guy on the thirteenth floor. After speaking with him, I walked out to the balcony to look over the ruined city, and I got eager to head outside soon.
We'll check what happens next in another post.
