If anything good happens in my life then the first person that would know about it, is my wife. She's the very first person I usually tell, because she's my safe place. I don't think of her as a partner only but also my best-friend. We have spent many years together, sharing both happy and difficult times. Because of this, she is the person I trust the most.
The center of my life is my family, so whenever there's a good news it could a small personal victory or success at work, the person first comes in my mind is my wife. I do have friends who I have grown up with, but they are all married and have their own life, so do I. Even my relatives I don't feel that close to them, I would not be able to share my small victories with them. My wife motivates me a lot for everything and for that reason I feel more comfortable sharing every little details with her. I enjoy seeing her smile and seeing her reaction. Her happiness makes my good news feel even more special.
After my wife, I love sharing good news with my daughters. Even though they are very young, they get excited about the little things in life. If I share something positive with them they celebrate as if it is the biggest news in the world. Their joy is contagious and reminds me to appreciate life's blessings.
However, I think I am also one of the first people my wife tells when she has good news. It doesn't matter if it's a good or bad news she will let me know everything anyway. For that reason I feel that we are one soul in two different bodies. She makes me feel valued and important in her life. It shows that we trust each other and enjoy being part of each other's happiest moments.
So, if my wife has someone else to share her good news with, then I don't think it's a bad thing. I would probably feel a little sad and question myself that why she didn't think of me first. However, I would try to understand that she has a life outside as well. She's not only my wife and the mother of my kids, she's also herself. She can choose the people she wants to share with, I can not change her choices. Maybe she has a different kind of relationship with that person and has a valid reason for sharing news with that specific person. I need to respect her privacy and let her choose. As I believe that we shouldn't force someone to choose us. So, I would not want to make it a big issue.
What matters the most that she loves me and our children, I trust her and she trusts me as well. The love and support between us is bigger than those small issues. Being one of the first people someone thinks about when they have good news is a sign of a strong and meaningful relationship. But it doesn't mean her life has to circulate around me only just because I do the same. I do it because that's who I am, I can't force or tell her to do the same for me. It's not love when you expect something in return. So, if they don't share then it doesn't mean you're not important anymore, it means the topic wasn't meant to be part of your conversation.
