Hey Guys, today I am back playing another ranked battle in Splinterlands. I was playing in the Modern Ranked Bracket I. I faced off against one of the players DENDRAGOTH. We had a mana cap of 52 so I was able to use some of my favourite cards. I chose to go with a fire deck and the opponent went with water. I was interested to see what would happen as they had gone with a completely different type of deck. We were playing with the standard rules.

Match Details

Mana Cap: 52

Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Death & Dragon

Ruleset: Standard

Modifier: None

My Cards

Summoner: Barthalamas

1st: Jolius Blast

2nd: Frankarsgard

3rd: Chaos Furybringer

4th: Vengeful Monk

5th: Great Bear druid

6th: Grand Consul Minion

I began my deck by choosing Barthalamas as my summoner. Jolius Blast came next. This is a powerful card to have in my deck but due to its high mana requirement it can get tricky to play in lower battles. As I had the higher mana cap of 52, I wanted to utilise this card.

Next was Frankarsgard. I have played with this card before so I wanted to try it again. I then put down Chaos Furybringer. Trying to create a deck that works well with my cards.

I then added in Vengeful Monk. I have been using this card recently in different matches so wanted to include it in my deck. With that I had 6 cards.

Entering battle I could see that my enemy had gone with a water deck and had 6 cards. However, I noticed that they had some different cards. I don’t think I have a lot of experience against this deck. They also had a tough card at the front.

At the start of the battle I was looking to see what cards were being targeted. Their deck was laid out in a way that could be problematic. I was interested to see what their attacks would do. There was also no Divine Shield or anything from the rules.

On the first round I could see how the battle was going. My cards could attack and I could see their health reducing. I was also looking at my front card to see if they would survive long enough for the rest of my cards to do damage. I didn’t want to lose my key cards.

By the second round I was feeling more confident. I could see their cards losing health and the battle was still going. I think sometimes having one less card can actually not be that big of a problem. The cards you choose and their placement can have a bigger impact.

I was shocked at how fast the battle went. I was expecting a longer battle as they had some tough cards. However, we made it to the third round and that was enough to win. My cards defeated DENDRAGOTH and I won another ranked battle.

Looking at my results I had gained +20 rating and 88 Glint. My rating has now increased to 620 and I am still in Division 8. I am happy to have increased my rating as I have been trying to improve in ranked battles.

Overall I think going with the fire element was a good choice. I was using cards that I knew and they did the job. It was nice to complete a match in just 3 rounds.

Future

There are still plenty of cards that I haven’t used much and I would be interested to see what they can do. I want to get out of Division 8 soon but I know I will need to win more. For now I am happy with this result and will keep playing ranked.

Thanks for reading my battle report!
