馃 The wood sandpiper (Tringa glareola)
馃摎 Tringa tryngas (Greek) thrush-sized water bird in Aristotle's texts
馃摎 glareola lat.: glarea pebbles, glareola reduce. by glarea
These funny birds I meet once a year, near the river or on the lake. And as you might guess from the Latin name, I meet them on the banks full of pebbles.
In contrast to The green sandpiper (Tringa ochropus), which are also found in these places, these birds are less shy. But for this you need to show them that you are not dangerous, just by being without sudden movements and sounds for a while.
These long-legged guys were about three birds. They were on the lake and walked through shallow water in search of food, and deftly caught small fish.
