Most importantly, with last nights events I hope everyone here stays safe! I considered not posting today, but decided against that as running connects us and gives some positivity.
Snow
After running yesterday evening with some slippery parts due to rain & frozen ground, I woke up this morning with a thick layer of snow. My kids went outside as soon as they could and ambushed me with lots of snowballs before I had my jacket on. Fun!
As a runner, I also considered how todays run would be like, while I was planning in the evening I hoped I could reschedule the run to earlier so not all the snow would be flattened!
Our regular saterday plans were adjusted due to government safety warnings not to go on the road (code red), so we were just staying in the house - until I was found some room for a short 30 min jog!
This was right in time as, the temperature was slightly above 0 C, causing the snow to start melting (I think in the evening it might be all water), plus the government started with cleaning the roads (luckily for me, first for cars)
As at night there is again heavy frost expected
, so I hope that comes with another layer of snow as otherwise all the melted snow from today with be frozen! (As I will leave the house tomorrow around 07:15 that is going to be soo much fun haha)
Today also provided an opportunity to better break in my trail shoes that I will be using during the coast marathon next month. While I had used them for a few hill repeat sessions, they are only used about 2h in total so this was a nice additional benefit!
Happy running!
