After a few days of snow, last night we had our first snowstorm in quite some time. Chaos on the roads and public transport and my kids school was closed due to the extreme weather. Perfect time for a recovery run, right?
The snow was indeed runable but it did require some more effort and caution. On large parts of the road my feet sunk into roughly 15 cm of snow on every step, while on the parts where the local government tried to get the snow off the roads I could had used ice skates.
I planned to run in heartrate zone 1, but that turned out to be difficult with all the obstacles. Nevertheless I can really enjoy this weather and loved that different hikers wanted to chat with me on how they could also run safely in this weather.
I ended up doing roughly 6 km today
During my run I came across a little group that combined wakeboarding / kite surfing with snowboarding. Which was awesome to see and a great way to have fun when the road to work is not available.
Tomorrow I expect to do an 8 to 15 km run and maybe some cycling if the roads allow that.
Happy running
