For the past couple of years, I have been collaborating with an artistic project called "La Macolla Creativa." One of the branches of the project focuses on creating a circular economy based on weaving with natural fibers and creating innovative utilitarian objects or clothing accessories. The project connects indigenous creators with galleries and exhibitions that allow them to market their handcrafted creations, so that these creators can have economic income without leaving their communities.
Desde hace un par de a帽os colaboro con un proyecto art铆stico llamado "la macolla creativa" una de las ramas del proyecto se enfoca en crear una econom铆a circular a base de el tejido con fibras naturales y crear objetos utilitarios o accesorios de indumentaria innovadores; el proyecto conecta a creadoras ind铆genas con galer铆as y exposiciones que permitan comerciar las creaciones artesanales, y as铆 esas creadoras puedan tener ingresos econ贸micos sin movilizarse de sus comunidades.
The artist who founded and leads the project is named Julio Loaiza. He constantly restores pieces woven with natural fibers, but these are historically valuable pieces belonging to private collections. Currently, there is an active exhibition of pieces from a private collection that he restored; it features a wide variety of pieces from different cultural groups across Venezuela.
El artista que fundo y lidera el proyecto se llama Julio Loaiza, el constantemente realiza restauraciones de piezas tejidas con fibras naturales, pero piezas con valor hist贸rico que pertenecen a colecciones privadas. Actualmente hay una exposici贸n activa de piezas de una colecci贸n privada que el restauro; hay una gran variedad de piezas de diferentes etnias culturales del territorio venezolano.
In an effort to boost visitor numbers at the exhibition, Julio organized several activities, including weaving workshops and talks. He invited me to assist him in one of the natural fiber weaving workshops, a very interesting experience helping the participants.
En un intento por impulsar la recepci贸n de visitantes en la exposici贸n, Julio a realizado varias actividades como talleres de tejido y conversatorios. Me invito a apoyarlo en uno de los talleres de tejido con fibras naturales, una experiencia muy interesante ayudar a los participantes que asistieron al taller.
The exhibition is from a private collection, but since Julio did the restorations, he was allowed to display some of his own pieces in the show. He took the opportunity to include pieces made with fiber from the Bora plant, research that is also part of the Macolla Creativa project. La exposici贸n es de una colecci贸n privada, pero como Julio realizo las restauraciones le permitieron exponer algunas piezas propias en esa muestra, el aprovecho para colocar piezas realizadas con fibra de la planta de Bora, una investigaci贸n que tambi茅n es parte de la Macolla creativa, en este post hablo un poco m谩s sobre esa investigaci贸n art铆stica.
