Facing a massive zombie on a bridge, I eliminated the beast and nearby infected using explosive knives. After clearing the area, I searched the bodies for a convoy access card, looted the military transport, and leaped into the lake. Then I started sprinting past infected to reach my safe house tower before nightfall.
Knowing a direct confrontation would prove difficult, I backed away from at first and climbed up the truck that became my safest spot on the bridge.
After drawing the massive monster away from the military convoy. I aimed carefully and struck the creature with an explosive knife, which triggered a heavy detonation that tore through its heavy armor.
I noticed several more infected died from the explosion as well.
I immediately followed up with a second explosive blade, damaging the beast while wiping out the lesser infected surrounding its feet.
A third explosive knife struck the target directly, collapsing the massive monster to the pavement and cleared the majority of the bridge squad in a matter of seconds.
When I climbed down the truck, I found the big monster dead along with most of the infected on the bridge but only two roaming infected survived the blasts who were closer to the military convoy.
They were continuing to wander among the wreckage. Slinking through the smoke, I approached both targets from behind and eliminated them with quiet takedowns.
With the bridge completely cleared, I searched the fallen bodies for supplies, recovered a convoy access card from the corpse of a former military officer. Before going for the door, I climbed atop the armored vehicle to survey the surrounding highway.
Then I dropped back down to unlock the rear doors with the card.
Inside the transport container, I looted a hand grenade, a sharp machete, and various valuable items, though I was disappointed to find no spare ammunition for my firearms.
After collecting fuel from the surrounding abandon vehicles, I navigated toward the far end of the bridge to search for additional supplies. Finding the area picked clean, I leaped off the concrete ledge into the deep lake below.
Surfacing near the shore, I attempted to climb a nearby electric utility pole to access the upper lines, but found no usable handholds.
I abandoned the attempt and sprinted across the terrain toward the utility tower containing my active safe house, ignoring the scattered infected along the trail.
With no agile biters or boosters in pursuit, I reached the tower ladder unharmed and climbed to the high platform to sleep until next morning as 4:00 p.m. passed into dusk.
