With Vagn's experienced Jomsviking crew, I initiated high-stakes raids along the River Exe. We plundered civilian hamlets for essential rations and assaulted heavily defended military camps, successfully secured valuable foreign supplies to expand our settlement's docks and barracks, despite rising river alert levels.
The first target came into view along the riverbank: a location known as Keats Farm. It was a modest civilian riverside settlement, but Vagn had previously emphasized that such places were perfect for securing vital food and medical supplies.
With the first location successfully cleared, I returned to the longship to continue the journey downriver. However, the smoke rising from the burning structures of Keats Farm should not gone unnoticed in the next locations.
Soon, I spotted a military camp situated on a strategic bend in the river. This location promised far greater rewards, specifically the heavy chests containing the precious foreign supplies needed to upgrade the settlement's infrastructure.
The defense at this military camp was noticeably tighter. Well-armored soldiers and archers stationed on wooden ramparts rained arrows down upon the attackers.
Once the immediate threats were neutralized, I located the massive chest of foreign cargo situated in the heart of the camp.
Forcing open the heavy iron lock required the physical strength of another warrior. I signaled one of the nearby Jomsvikings, and together, we pried open the lid, and found a bounty of rare crafting materials and foreign supplies.
With the cargo successfully looted, the raid on the camp was officially complete. I called for a retreat, and the crew worked quickly to carry the heavy sacks of loot back to the longship.
The vessel's hold was now heavily laden with valuable cargo, representing a highly successful expedition that would pave the way for Ravensthorpe's future prosperity.
After rowing the longship for a moment, we came in touch with another military camp and, as we needed the foreign supplies to finish the quest, I blew the raid horn and started ripping limbs off the skilled warriors around.
