Then my mom messaged me: you have to forgive this person.

Perhaps I am a very defensive person because I messaged back, yes but, that does not mean that I have to forget the things that she did.

Forgiving for me does not come very easy. First of all, I needed to be completely healed in order to extend that. Another "requirement" for me is that, I do not forget that incident. Not that I am a masochistic person but, I wanted to take good care of me too. Not all relationships gets mended after a mistake is done and for me, trusting somebody after everything does not always come that easily.

I have also to determine if that incident was purely accidental or was it premeditated and, will I be likely be subjected to the same treatment in the future. I need to consider my present and future position- weather I needed to be with that person professionally and personally and will we be able to work out our differences.

In the end, what matters more to me is that, will I be able to trust this person again? NO. That motivated me to seek a new path and to completely exclude that person in my future life. Its not about carrying grudges or extra baggage. Its not even about getting even or moving ahead of anyone. Most of the time, its just me moving on, forgiving and finding ways to live a peaceful and happy life.
