This food is often served as the best dish for dignitaries visiting the Aceh region. Not only that, this food has even held a magnificent festival to make this cake together in the traditional way, besides that it aims to popularize the culture of the local community.
Why is it called Pidie apam? Now the main reason is because this apam cake was first recognized by one of the districts in Aceh, Indonesia, namely the Pidie district. Apam cakes have always been a special tradition in the community at certain times and months, by holding a kenduri toet apam or a celebration of making apam which is carried out together. Usually it is made for a big event, such as in the month of Rajab which fell last month, when Muslims will soon welcome the month of Ramadan so that this khenduri becomes the most sacred moment, for the community. The tradition of making apam cakes in the month of Rajab has been passed down from generation to generation from the time of our ancestors and is still being preserved today. Well usually apam is cooked in an earthen cauldron, using fire from coconut fiber. Woks made of special clay are made by local pottery craftsmen, so that the availability of these cooking utensils will be easy to obtain.

Steps To Make Apam Dough
Steps 1
Prepare the rice flour into a large container so that it is easy to mix, then add a teaspoon of salt and stir until evenly distributed.

Add coconut milk little by little, do it gradually so you can determine the amount of dough. Then don't forget to add 1 teaspoon fermipan (optional)
Steps 3
After the dough is smooth, add warm water and stir until the dough is liquid with medium thickness.
Steps 4
The next step is to print the dough in a frying pan, here I print in a pancake mold because I don't have a special clay mold. Heat the mold and give a little dab of oil to print the dough by pouring it one by one into the mold.

If it has bubbled on the surface, cover the mold with the dough cover, cook until cooked until the bottom is golden brown.
