The park is located in Piazza della Resistenza, also known by the locals as Piazza d'Armi because in the Middle Ages, armories and soldiers' exercises were located here. In fact, to this day, there is still an important fortress, the Santa Barbara fortress, located within the city walls of Pistoia. Unfortunately, it wasn't open to the public today (a bad thing because I saw tourists who wanted to visit it, and I would have liked to too, but it's only open every now and then). I only photographed it from the outside. It's a fortress that the De Medici family built in the Middle Ages as a small protective fortress. For a period, it was fought over, half destroyed, and then rebuilt, and today it is under the Ministry of Cultural Heritage. It's a shame that it's rarely open to the public. Anyway, let's get back to our beautiful park surrounded by the houses and buildings typical of Pistoia, a little far from the historic center but it's a park worth visiting if you love green and spacious places. Many families and people come here now to jog or walk, and they've even opened a restaurant that's becoming very popular in the area (I myself celebrated my hen party there; the food is good and the place is truly delicious).

As you can see, the park is large, with a main path branching off into several smaller paths that lead to other parts of the park, which covers the entire square. There are various types of trees and plants, including many beautiful willows. There would also be a very romantic little pool, but it's a shame it's empty now. There's plenty of space for picnics, sitting on the grass to read or walk. There are tables and benches for relaxing, and there's also a play area and a carousel for children, complete with slides, tunnels, and swings. It's a perfect place for families. In the summer, various events are held here, including festivals, food fairs, and open-air cinemas, as well as local events. In the spring, the medieval festival is held here. It's a really beautiful park and the city really needed a large, peaceful green space suitable for everyone!
